Re: 24-25 Trade Thread
If we get rid of huerter this will be the best offseason I can remember in forever.
Barnes, huerter, mitchell were easily the 3 weak links. Replacing them with Carter, derozan, ? Will be huge. So far Monte has had the right idea of going much more athletic.
Not worried about the swap. Need to be good today. Sometimes that costs in the future. Wish we didn't have to do it with SA and wemby, but oh well.

Why would you miss the playoffs for sure with Derozan?
Because he makes you worse. He dominates the ball, slows you down by dribbling alot for half court, can't play off ball or shoot 3s, and hurts your D. Terrible fit for your fast paced scheme.
Weren't really a fast paced team last year. But I fail to see how swapping Barnes for derozan makes us worse on the fast break. Did you watch either of these guys play last year lol.

I think this move means we may host a play-in game. It's not a good fit as he doesn't compliment Fox, Sabonis and our offense. Our defense will be bottom half of the league. It's alarming how much this is being celebrated by our fanbase. I just gotta assume they don't know ball or they're so desperate they've turned off their brains.

Crazy take.
We were a top 5 defense when keon came in for huerter. Assuming huerter isn't starting our defense is going to be solid.
Barnes was such a drag last year. We lost so many games being up 20 when the offense would fall apart. Derozan will not let that happen. He and fox were 2 of the best 4th quarter scorers last season. Fox is known to fatigue during the season with such a large responsibility, derozan is going to fix that problem and reduce the burden on fox.
The idea that replacing Barnes with derozan doesn't make us significantly better is crazy. I recommend you check out what derozan has been doing in Chicago. Incredible upgrade

He’s a winner and definitely doesn’t dominate the ball. Good passer and clutch closer. Every locker room raves about him. And he’s happy to be back in Cali.
Mr Winner has made the playoffs twice in the last 6 years, both 1st round exits. It's not a coincidence.
In awful situations SA was rebuilding. Chicago won his first yr and injuries to others derailed the last two. Still got them to the play-in almost on his own.
Not really. Both franchises were trying to be competitive. Demar didn't do much to help.

On that very same paper, Fox and Sabonis were an awful duo, while Dedmon was a great fit. Over time, I learnt that good players can easily figure out fit, while that's not necessarily true for average players who brought together for a fit. We will see.

Heck of an upgrade. All NBA talent, unselfish, locker room guys. Takes pressure off Sabonis to the be the no. scorer.

Re: 24-25 Trade Thread
I think people are underestimating the consistency DDR is going to bring to the offense. This offense was VERY streaky last year and having 2 shot creators on the floor at all times (doubt all 3 of fox, monk and Demar will be on the floor at the same very often) should hopefully help break those cold spells more often.
If Keegan develops into a more competent 1 on 1 player that’s even better. But I don’t understand the people that are concerned by DDR’s iso ball, i think the team needs that.

This will save a lot of wear and tear on Fox as he will not have to do everything to keep the Kings in games. We do need a 4 type player though who can help with rim protection.

Agreed with the wear and tear for Fox. Lotta playing with fire with how dependent we've been on Fox with his body. I like the trade overall for us. Next focus is getting something for Heurter in the front court.

Again, pure class. You're getting a good one in DeMar, as are we in Harrison. Best of luck this season, Kings fans.

What would you guys think about Lyles and Ellis for Portis? You guys get an upgrade in the post who can play alongside Sabonis. Bucks get a needed wing defender.

Re: 24-25 Trade Thread
Keon has to start unless there is another defender signed at the 4 position. Kings will be overwhelmed by teams like the Pelicans and Wolves without at least some size in the front court.

Re: 24-25 Trade Thread
If nothing happens through the offseason and Monte decides to wait until the deadline and see what he has now, you basically are in a situation of having to start Keegan at the PF and Keon at the SG position so that you have two superior POA defenders to deal with the scoring guards and wings you will face. Team rebounding anchored by Domas will still be the way we go for now and the second unit with Monk/Huerter/Lyles/Len/starter is actually a really nasty and effective one that is better than almost any second unit in the league right now and should give opposing coaches fits most nights - as well as making them have to overplay and tire their starters out which is a late game big advantage.
