Jordan Brown of Woodcreek Highschool was added to the Mens U19 world cup roster. The kid is a beast. I live in Roseville and let me tell you he could be special.

That 5 year horrible contract?

Plenty of us groaned when he signed it.

Petrie wasn't scared we'd lose him.

I don't think we worked out Robinson either. I've always suspected the Maloofs told Geoff what to do in that draft.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2013/01/03/golden-state-warriors-joe-lacob-los-angeles-clippers-new-york-knicks-iman-shumpert-damian-lillard/1806185/

It's been ugly on that front for quite some time, largely because of the drastic decline in the spending habits of the Maloof family that owns the team. While there was a recent increase in the price tag of this team (from minimum payroll the last two seasons to a 2012-13 payroll that is at the salary cap), the penny-pinching precedent came with a cost during the summer. According to three people with knowledge of the situation who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, part of the reason the Kings drafted forward Thomas Robinson fifth overall out of Kansas in June instead of Rookie of the Year frontrunner and Weber State point guard Damian Lillard (who went sixth to Portland) was because of internal doubt about ownership's ability or willingness to pony up for restricted free agent forward Jason Thompson.

There was strong support for Lillard among the team's front-office and scouting staff, but the unexpected chance to grab Robinson when he slid was seen as a safer option in case the Maloofs didn't pay the market price for Thompson and the team was left with Cousins and veteran forward Chuck Hayes on the frontline. The Kings were legitimately excited to take Robinson, who was seriously considered as high as No. 2 (Charlottte), but Thompson's situation was a factor.

Market price for Thompson?

5 years?

They inflated that contract severely.

If they were willing to pay the man that much, any "fear" would of been irrational. I've never heard of Petrie drafting based on some FA fear before.

After hearing the Celtics/Sixers news, the top 3 picks are almost 100% will be Fultz, Ball and Jackson. That's great news for the Kings since it increases the chances of Fox being #5. Hoping they get him.

I believe the consensus has been those guys in the top three so not sure if this changes anything. I would watch out for Tatum at the three pick. Celtics need scoring and Brown and Jackson are somewhat redundant as neither are knockdown shooters. Tatum will get buckets.

I see. Do you know which player the Suns want the most? I'm hoping they don't steal Fox.

Fox would be such a perfect fit with Buddy and WCS. I would only pick DSJ if Fox gets taken by someone first.
Plus I would have so much fun abusing defenses with his speed in 2K when playing with the Kings. Please God let that happen.

They have been connected to Tatum(been in for 2 visits), Isaac(2 visits) and Fox(canceled a workout but they met at combine and watched his proday).

It's anyone's guess.

i think Jackson is now pretty locked in at 3 to Boston but if Lonzo's workout for the Lakers didn't go well today (they didn't seem that impressed by his first workout) i think there may be a surprise there. Either trading down to a team who wants Ball (or Jackson) or taking Issac/DSJ/Tatum.

If we end up with a choice of Tatum or Fox i want Tatum
If we end up with a choice of Lonzo or Fox I want Lonzo

Either way the Kings are in great position as long as they don't give up both picks to trade up.

Also i'm kind of blown away that the Celtics would get so little in return in this deal. I'm not a Fultz guy at all (maybe Ainge saw him lacking something as i did) but a lot of people consider him a once in 5-year talent. Their biggest need is scoring and Jackson won't supply that early in his career. I think if they do this deal it means something bigger is coming (Butler/PG/AD)

The DMC trade made the Kings fans so excited about this year's draft. Good stuff.

This summation of events tracks to me tho it could be totally wrong as well. S/o to v2i0n on reddit for the post -

Just wanted to share what my theory as to what is going on with the recent Sixer/Celtics pick trade development:

1) The Celtics want Josh Jackson but know that he will be available at the #3 spot as they look at the Lakers roster and don't see the Lakers taking another forward with Nance, Ingram, and Randle all sharing minutes

2) The Lakers know the Celtics want Josh Jackson and KNOW for sure that Fultz is the best guard prospect in this draft. The reason for the second visit with Lonzo is to make sure they do their due diligence IF they pass on him. The Lakers have a feeling that if the Celtics are going to draft Jackson then they will have Fultz fall in their lap at the #2 spot.

3) Both Celtics and Lakers know that the Sixers want Fultz. Since Boston knows the Sixer's want Fultz they are opening a conversation with them. For Boston they can get future assets and still grab their guy at the #3. It is a win-win for them as they value Jackson over Fultz (which makes sense considering they have IT, Bradley, Smart, and Rozier already on board)

4) Lowe is reporting that Boston and Philly trade is most likely swapping the 2017 #1 for the 2017 #3 and Lakers 2018 unprotected pick.

5) Lakers see that Philly is angling for Fultz and drop the rumor that Magic loves Fultz and would offer the #2 and Randle for the #1. THIS IS STRICTLY TO DRIVE UP THE ASKING PRICE OF THE #1. The Lakers want to make Boston's asking price for the #1 higher than just a future 1st rounder so that the Sixers will balk and trade talk will end.

So little ? You really consider moving just 2 spaces back in this deep draft + getting the rights to either the lakers unprotected 1st or the Kings 2019 is so little . That is a huge hall for just moving 2 spaces back in this draft .

A few questions you may or may not have answered already...I just don't remember...

Does your source know you are posting info on message boards and is that the reason they are giving it to you(to be posted for fans and whoever else to see)?

Do they tell you all this over the phone or email or in person?

Lakers or Kings pick isn't a bad return especially if you are getting the guy you want anyways (Jackson or Tatum).

I think they get Tatum or Isaac leaving Fox for you to use in 2k. :D

FFS, if the Bulls trade Butler for the #3, they will take Fox 100%. :(

I was thinking this when it came out about Magic. He would be calling Ainge every hour telling him he is taking Jackson at #2 if they do the deal with Philly.
