Giving up on Cousins after two years would really be dumb... should he be more mature? Yeah. But that doesn't mean a year and a half and you send him off because of some frustration, like I said, there's going to be ups and downs, but you need to deal with them for a reasonable amount of time becuase of the guy's talent. Plus you can't step back two years for another rookie big man, that's simply decreasing the team's quality.

Yah thats basically what I have been saying . If the Kings organization legitamitly stands behind Westpaul then we are in worse shape as an organization then what i had thought .
I said it before & I will say it again I think PW is using Cousins to distract the attention and blame from himself. As a Coach that sucks throwing your players under the bus . That should never be done . If I am the other Kings players I would lose respect for PW thinking he would do that to any of us .

Yeah, as anti-Cousins as I've seemed at times, I really just think we should acknowledge that there are a lot of problems with him and his behavior.

This doesn't change how terrible of a move this is for Westphal.

mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
The Kings have assigned Tyler Honeycutt and Hassan Whiteside to their D-League affliate in Reno.

mr_jasonjones Jason Jones
I kind of assume Cousins has to make the trip...w/ no Whiteside or Honeycutt the Kings have only 12 players.

Edit: So unless a signing happens, I guess that kinda takes care of that.

Well, and for the moment, hopefully it doesn't come to that. If Westphal keeps his best players on the floor, Cousins included, and they continue to learn over time, maybe this can be put back together. Winning and more importantly evidence of implementation and success with his system will cure all ill will.

Westphal isn't stupid, he will never make it a "him or me" situation. If he did, well goodbye coach! If the Kings choose a coach who has shown very little worth to the team other than a snazzy post presser and the ability to squash the talents of his best players then.... well, goodbye Kings, had a chance but good luck giving those tickets away. I just think they need to bring this back together and give it one more shot. Cousins, Westphal, the whole shebang. If Cousins makes it a "him or me", then that's a problem, but by all accounts he hasn't. This whole thing is odd because Cousins was one of the guys coming out when people first started questioning everything and was seemingly sticking by Westphal. Just awkward all the way around.

Westpaul sucks . I think he will be lucky if he lasts the rest of this season as coach .

It's a last gasp play to get this team back together. Something had to blow, and this will either blow up in his face, or blow the team up into realizing they need to be patient and trust one another.

The kings stink this year anyway, so why not trade him for a high draft pick, and draft two potential superstars in the lottery from the 2012 class?

Cousins to Cleveland would do the trick. Or maybe to Detroit? Or Golden State?

Any top 10 lottery pick will do.

Imagine if the team gets Davis or Drummond with their own pick and then lands a complimentary player with the lower pick, perhaps draft down and take Kendall Marshall - a pure point guard to get all these guys shots.

Don't let all the caca fool you, Cousins is the real deal if he pans out. Even if he doesn't he's a difference maker on both ends of the floor.

It's also weird because we were starting to run more of the offense that goes through Cousins. But I guess that can be chalked up to Cousins' general instability.

Winning does cure all ills though, and that's another reason we can't afford to be too patient.

Westfail just knows this move buys him more time.

We're set to have something happening before the season ends - I hope to god it's Westfail being fired though.

I doubt the players have any respect to Paul anyways right now - surely not the guys who are with us for a few years now - and I doubt even the vets he brought in to try and save his life and somehow change things around.

I wouldn't put it past the Kings and their terrible management to only travel with 12 players.

I agree . But that said it seems to me PW always uses Cousins as being the problem rather than blamming himself or calling out other players . PW needs to be a man and take the heat when he clearly deserves it .

He wants to keep his job and knows this is his prolly last shot to coach in the league.

Well, the answer is yes on both fronts of reasoning, but I would have to imagine there was some sort of plan involved with the way things happened. If I'm Westphals boss he's going to have to explain his reasoning pretty darn well before I put a release out there that blasts one of your foundational pieces and somewhat glorifies Westphal to a degree. If it's a message that's one thing, If it was simply a way of Westphal saving his job then Petrie allowing that drivel to hit the hatewaves is the stupidest move I've ever seen. Petrie is too cunning for that, far too cunning, and way too cool headed.

And to think...we were just a bounce away from landing with the #1 pick in '09 instead of #4.

And to think...if Cousins didn't have "issues" there is no way he'd have been there at 5. Depends on how you look at things I guess.

"Me and (Thornton) had a long talk in the locker room yesterday," Evans said. "We just said ... we got to find a way. A lot of people complain about the offense, it's not the greatest offense, but it works when we run it. So we just got to keep playing hard like that. We got tough road games coming up and we got to go out there and play hard."

How does Evans get away with saying something like this, but not Cousins?

I was referring to the year before...not the 2010 draft.
