Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
Patterson really isn't undersized. He's going to be 6' 9" 240 lbs with good strength and solid length. He's about average sized for a PF. It would be a stretch to play him at center.
I agree that we really don't have a need for him, but I don't mind working him out. I otherwise really like him a prospect. I think he's the surest thing in this draft, and I don't think his ceiling is as low as others make it out to be.

The way this draft is working out and the gap that exists between the top 5 and everyone else I'd bet he does an individual workout and won't do group ones.

He's a darkhorse candidate of mine. I really like Patterson and I think he has more to offer than he's shown. He's develop a legit shot beyond the college 3 point line and he's a really good athlete. I wouldn't mind trading down to take him, he's got potential to be a 18 and 8 guy easy.

He's a decent prospect, but definitely not worth the 5th pick in the draft. Maybe if we trade down to 10-15...but even then, we need someone who can play PF/C. Right now, we only have one true C, which is Hawes (I think Thompson is better off at PF, IMO, but he''s not a true C either way). Then at PF, we have Landry/Thompson/Brockman (if re-signed?) and that's not including Noci/Greene, who can both play PF if needed.

I agree that we don't have a need for him. But I do really like him otherwise.

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
Oh I agree. I think if we had the 10-15 pick and didn't have Landry or the Brockness, he would be the perfect backup PF for us. If it wasn't for Cousins and Wall, he could have been a top 10 pick this year (or I guess he still could be).

And with the 5th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft the Sacramento Kings select...... Greg Monroe from GeorgeTown University

Here's his video from his workout...Look how excited PW looks. If he's shooting three's like that and is that mobile.....Petrie cant contain himself BUT to select this guy

*sigh*... Another all-around center who can't defend... great.

This workout was absolutely stacked.
One of the players in this workout was already invited back for another.

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
Westphal looks polite as much as anything.
Regardless, I would have liked to see more post work, but the video could be edited a billion different ways, so we can't really know what it was like. It does look like he's improving on that outside shot, which is nice.
Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised if he was the pick at all. It would definitely mean, as I see it, the franchise giving up on Spencer, which wouldn't bother me so much right now. Nothing is a given still at this point, but I do think maybe we should start getting into the frame of mind of Monroe being on this team next year.

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
Agreed Mitch. The handwritting is almost on the wall for Monroe being a Sacramento King. He does all the things Hawes can but looks a bit stronger. Well if he's the pick (which I'm not hoping for) I atleast want us to trade Hawes and package him along with Noc for a next pick. Seen that Houston and Kings always seem to make deals, why not Hawes Noc for Jefferies #14

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
Well I have it on good authority, and it's backed up by SacTown Royalty, that Whiteside basically dominated the workout yesterday. I've been told it was basically 1) Whiteside, 2) Aldrich, 3) Udoh.
I'm starting to come around on the idea of Whiteside at 5. I don't think it would be as risky as it might seem on the surface.

It looks like we're working out Cousins and Favors on Saturday. I'm looking forward to those.

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
I starting to soften a bit on Monroe. If we don't go Cousins or Johnson as the two obvious choices I hope it's Monroe. He and Spencer in the frontcourt could really work for Tyreke and at the very least it would be a major upgrade of 1st big off the bench. Heck, maybe even start him at C next to Landry. His shot looks really good.

If Cousins is off the board I would dance if we took Whiteside. He is FAR better fit for us than Monroe. I'm VERY glad to hear he dominated the workouts too, against some tough competition.
Still, gotta at least get USED to the idea of Monroe...

Yeah, as soon as defense stops mattering, I'll be right on board.

I want to see Monroe vs Cousins vs Whiteside... that would be great
And how UGLY is Aldrich's shot? It looks worse than Evans' did in his workout videos...

+100000
It's like he almost touches his back with the ball before he starts the release. Very strange shot.

I don't know, it's certainly not hopeless defensively. Both certainly have all the tools to be decent defenders if they strive for it.

Still goes in nice and smooth. Did in college too.
