Willie's lack of rebounding is embarassing. I go back and forth if we should pay him big money but i just think you can't win when someone like that is your primary interior presence. It feels like he wishes he was 6'5" where he wouldn't be expected to do the things interiors players are supposed to do.

It's worked for Zbo this year.

Willie and Skal are inconsistent on the boards but all in all the Kings didn't get beat up on the boards in this game. They gave up 7 offensive boards. The refs let the Wolves have it from the line. I can say the Kings were over matched at times but 36 free throws worth? Get out of here. That was a classic young team getting a lesson from the refs.

I only caught bits of the game but that was my take away too. 33-36 to 12-13. 10-12 to 2-2 in the 3rd qtr.

I'm never gonna do the whole 'the refs aren't calling fouls' thing with this team cause the majority of our players shy away from contact. That's what happens when you have a team as physically light as the kings are (of the starting 5 tonight our Center, Power Forward, Small Forward and Point Guard are very light for their positions).

It seems like such a small thing but 8 or 9 more free throws made per game could mean 10 more wins at least.
it's part body type, part mindset. Isaiah was always the smallest guy on the court but he was tremendous at drawing contact and embellishing contact.

The size thing wasn't just evident in rebounds tonight but moreso in trying to defend more physically built players. WCS on KAT and Skal on Taj Gibson were major mismatches. And we had no answer physically for Wiggins either.

That's a reason im a big fan of Ayton. He'll get to the line a ton and he's a 75% foul shooter so definitely no hack-a-shack situations.

Bruno's defense was a pleasant surprise. Looked like he can legit guard 4's and some 5's. He has good weight distribution and strength.

Agreed. We still have to see more in time. It was evident that he can play but was nervous. He missed all his triples but there will be games were he makes those open shots too.

If he can play solid defense he will find a place in Joerger's rotation.

I was always reluctant to let Bruno go because of his defense. I know it's a minor league but he was the G-League's best defender. He was capable of guarding 2's to 5's. If he sticks around he has a long way to go before he's capable of guarding NBA 2's, but he was guarding G-League 2's pretty well.

They were calling them, but for the other side. I saw a lot of phantom calls out there.

I can see his potential impact with his length. Outside of Skal the Kings don't really have anyone that changes shots in the paint so it was noticeable. Bruno appears to be physically stronger than Skal as well. He didn't have nearly the issues with the Wolves size that Skal did.

WCS can't score against full-size centers, and he can't defend either. He also can't shoot from distance, even free throws. Damn, he can't be an NBA level player for sure.

I'm absolutely serious. Just look at numbers:
49,4 FG% (reducing every year), 60,6 FT%

His most frequently used shot types are (except dunks and alley-oops):

Type | FGM | FGA | FG%
Hook Shot | 33 | 83 | 39,8
Jump Shot | 59 | 170 | 34,7
Layup | 99 | 212 | 46,7

By Area:
Restricted Area | 192 | 296 | 64,9
In The Paint (Non-RA) | 46 | 160 | 28,8
Mid-Range | 45 | 112 | 40,2

While seeing him defending against solid big men like Towns makes me cry.

I'd be curious to compare those numbers with other big men and exclude dunks and layups. Not saying his #s are good.

We ruined his confidence. The moment he did anything wrong, he'd get benched, talked to and left to rot for a quarter of the season, if not more.

I wish that we actually had played him. His first game against the Bucks several years ago, he was all energy and felt great!

Yeah to me the issue with Willie isn't just his low rebounding numbers or low shot blocking numbers. It's that seemingly every decent big man has his way with him. Same with Skal really.

if we're sitting at #1 i'm definitely in favor of drafting Ayton and hoping his defensive instincts continue to develop. Guys like Doncic and Porter are great but you can't win games by going out and paying big $$ for WCS to be your interior presence. it would just be groundhog day.

The Kings can totally draft Porter and look for rebounding elsewhere. Look at GSW or OKC.

What's crazy is the Kings may already have a good rebounder in Giles but unfortunately its hard to bank on that

True..even if Giles is healthy next year he’ll be on a minutes limit and probably won’t do back-to-back games. Hard to count on that

I don't know about the restrictions. He is 16 months past the knee and has been cleared and says he is 100 healthy and is practicing without restriction. By next year it will be 24 months past the injury. He shouldn't be held back.
