Sure skal has looked good on offense but the 2 have combined for 5 rebounds so far and can't stop anyone inside on the defensive end. Looks like boys vs men.
Willie's lack of rebounding is embarassing. I go back and forth if we should pay him big money but i just think you can't win when someone like that is your primary interior presence. It feels like he wishes he was 6'5" where he wouldn't be expected to do the things interiors players are supposed to do.
It's worked for Zbo this year.![]()
Willie and Skal are inconsistent on the boards but all in all the Kings didn't get beat up on the boards in this game. They gave up 7 offensive boards. The refs let the Wolves have it from the line. I can say the Kings were over matched at times but 36 free throws worth? Get out of here. That was a classic young team getting a lesson from the refs.
I only caught bits of the game but that was my take away too. 33-36 to 12-13. 10-12 to 2-2 in the 3rd qtr.
I'm never gonna do the whole 'the refs aren't calling fouls' thing with this team cause the majority of our players shy away from contact. That's what happens when you have a team as physically light as the kings are (of the starting 5 tonight our Center, Power Forward, Small Forward and Point Guard are very light for their positions).
It seems like such a small thing but 8 or 9 more free throws made per game could mean 10 more wins at least.
it's part body type, part mindset. Isaiah was always the smallest guy on the court but he was tremendous at drawing contact and embellishing contact.
The size thing wasn't just evident in rebounds tonight but moreso in trying to defend more physically built players. WCS on KAT and Skal on Taj Gibson were major mismatches. And we had no answer physically for Wiggins either.
That's a reason im a big fan of Ayton. He'll get to the line a ton and he's a 75% foul shooter so definitely no hack-a-shack situations.
