Yeah, the zone clearly isn't working.

And I hate that Baron Davis always realizes his HoF potential just in time to play the Kings :nonono:

Yeah, me too. But he is playing horrible today.

Ah, he's showed a couple of good moves in the post but the defense we are playing is really leaving out bigs out to dry. It's hard to protect the rim out of a zone when the whole purpose of the zone is to stop penetration.

I am shocked at how bad Mikki is doing. He is just a waste of space out there, this style should be and usually is tailor made for his game.

Our main problem is that Baron is able to penetrate very easily. This is leading to most of our other problems defensively. Really a zone is our best option, unless maybe we want to put Salmons on Baron to try to slow him down some. But if nothing else, I think we need to try to play off of Baron more, making him more of a jump shooter. Because when he penetrates, he is just shredding our D right now.

If anyone is penetrating easily then the zone isn't working anyway. The zone isn't the problem alone. The problem is that we haven't dropped out it yet. When a team is beating it, they won't stop until you change things up for a little while. It's just starting to look like Reggie doesn't trust his team, which is probably the case and I can't really blame him considering this is a roster of guys that haven't played much together or much at all as individuals.

Playing zone all night worked against the Nuggets but they weren't breaking it down like the W's are tonight.

Sure it's probably not a bad idea to try something else. But I doubt it will be pretty (not that this is). But in a basketball sense, a zone theoretically makes more sense.

I like how Kevin is taking advantage of the much smaller defender just like he did with AI.

The thing is, unless you're a great defensive big (which Spencer isn't) you're not going to be able to stop Baron coming to the rim.

I dont expect Hawes to stop Baron, but they're targeting him and he's offering little resistance. Biedrins has owned him in the paint to.

Yeah our biggest problem so far in the quarter is keeping Biedrins off the boards.

The zone is part of it, but Biedrins is also just outworking Spencer and Mikki.

Hawes needs to box out, he can't rely on length and athleticism against Biedrins.

Dear Hawes,

You are not an athletic shotblocker. Please play positional defense. :nonono:

I give alot of credit to Reggie theus for working with Martin in practice in terms of his improved footwork and little post moves.

Kevin Martin has really improved here late in the season. He is taking advantage of our situation to improve his playmaking and you can tell he sees things much better on the court.
