Congratulations to the Sacrament o Kings for being the best team in 2002.

I already knew that and anybody who knows basketball knew that. I still remember watching those games and seeing those calls and thinking WOW!

I'm not even a Kings fan at all, as a matter of fact I don't even like the kings at all. But wow you guys were robbed severely and I'm sorry to y'all. Bibby should have won a ring that year. Bibby + Webber+ Turkoglu + Divac + Christie was simply the best starting lineup that series, the King's bench was better, and the Kings simply mastered the way of beating the Lakers. They completely killed the Lakers defense and just overwhelmed them with their schemes, the Lakers meanwhile couldn't get anyone going outside of Shaq who was held relatively in check with the timely double teams. But then the Lakers suddenly started getting bogus calls to "earn" their 2 points when they failed to score, and the Kings were allowed to get murdered on the other end. It was BS!

yeah me

NBA Conspiracy Theory could be true because:

1. that year was contract season for the NBA( last season with NBC).
2.Game 6 of the Kings-Lakers series that was the worst officiated game In Sports history, The Lakers did get all of the calls.
3. big market team vs small market team

NBA Conspiracy Theory could not be true because:

1.the year after, the finals was between 2 small market teams(nets vs spurs).
2.Tim Donaghy trying to save his butt.
3. all collage superstars gone to small market (lebron, oden, duncan)....

i honestly don't know what to believe, but if this is true i will stop watching the NBA.

Absolutely pathetic. I'm a Knick fan who rooted HARD for the Kings in that series. EVERYONE no matter what team you rooted for (maybe even some Laker fans) knew the officiating was beyond suspicious.

Sucks- Vlade, C-Webb, Bibby, Peja- I really liked that team.

Daaaaamn.....Rockets fan here. But I wanted the Kings to win that series sooo bad.

Kings should have won Game 6. Can't blame the refs too much about Game 7 though...Kings would have won if they just made their damn free throws

Dudes, as much as I say with every fiber of my being that that series was pathetically refeed,

This is Donaghy we are talking about. Not exactly trustworthy in any ways. Could be he's just trying to pull the fire off his ass, but in no way should we choose to believe that idiot until someone gets more proof.

Nah he would have NO incentive to lie to the feds. They know when you're lying and when you aren't. They have their process. He gains NOTHING by saying something he's not sure of or something that's a lie. He had to be pretty damn sure about this to tell them about it, because they would find out if he's lying.

Also the NBA hasn't even flat out denied this when they gave their response to ESPN. All they said was basically "Donaghy is teh criminel, don't beleev him111!". That's after they previously said they complied or whatever with everything Donaghy had told the FBI.

We got screwed.

It was Violet Palmer, Bob Delaney, and Dick Bavetta.

It's probably Delaney and Bavetta he's referring to. Bavetta's worked for the NBA for 30 years or something like that. Delaney used to work for the feds and busted the people in the mob. He ended up saying he felt sorry for the guys he busted and it was liked outing family.

Delaney has always seemed crooked to me and Bavetta would make sense since he's been in the NBA a LONG time.

I'm sorry, I'm not going to take anything he says seriously. He's a idiot who got caught, and I'm not surprised if he wants to try to take the league down with him, to make it less of a just Donaghy scandel and more of a league scandle.

That series caused me to start posting on realgm and was the reason my username is what it is. The Kings were the best team that year, no question they got cheated. The NBA stole your Carl's Jr. championship Kings bobbleheads. There should be a class action law suit. Lines for the Peja championship bobblehead would have stretched for miles.

The Nets were going to go to the Finals, they just won the ECF the day before game 6. The Kings have almost no fans. If it were Kings vs Nets that would have been the lowest rated Finals ever. The Lakers on the other hand have all the publicity in the world, a ton of fans and bandwagoners alike, and are a relevant force in the mainstream media. People who don't know basketball know the Lakers like people who don't know baseball knows the Yankees. That series was a fix. The Kings should have been champions. The NBA championship is as much a popularity contest as Class President of High school.

I've been trying to find highlights of the 2002 WCF Game 6, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone here have any highlights of that game? I want to see the calls that were called in the 4th.

I believe someone in the NBA office is going to file copyright violations on that game on youtube, if they have not done so already

I wouldn't say the Kings have almost no fans, but you're right that the ratings would've been lower. I mean Sac definitely is a lot smaller than LA. We got ****, and I agree with you. I'll admit I don't know anything about baseball but like you said I know who the Yankees are.

oh okay, having a smaller market completely justifies why the kings didnt make the finals that year.

I think it's time for the feds to launch a RICO investigation against Stern.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

My deepest sympathies go out to you guys

I hope this launches a pre-emptive Stern overhaul

The refs can't be unquestioned dieties on the court

I want, DEMAND instant replay on almost every call

What's it take for a guy watching upstairs to buzz down when something's a bad call? 5-10 seconds?

Well, whether it was already included when I made that post, I didn't know about the series to game 7 detail, that was just stated on ABC during the half-time show.

It was that series - and if as is what was put out there, it's true, that is just so sad, and makes things significantly worse. I'm thinking it probably is true, too.
