Maloofs gonna Maloof.

I just can't see any possible way, someone would allow the Maloofs to have a say in how an NBA team is run ever again.

Nobody would, it's just a ridiculous notion if true. So, you sell the team and still want to say how it's run? Kind of the like the same deal he got for the Palms although word is he has about as much say as the janitor these days.

As if a new majority owner would actually stay true to something like that.

Well if the Seattle group is really going to pay $525 million for a franchise that is only worth $300 million... guess we never really had a chance to fight for them in the first place.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's happened, but I would take anything said by anybody with a healthy dose of skepticism. We live in a world where the media has zero accountability.

Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area NBA analyst Matt Steinmetz is reporting that the sale to Seattle is complete. We'll treat these details with a healthy dose of skepticism for now.

Ugh this sucks. I'm sure that George or someone will come out and say that there is absolutely no deal even if there really is, then someone will report based on sources that the deal is final, George will come out and deny, sources will confirm the deal is done and so on until the team is gone. I just hope that a local group is given a fair shot at bidding on the team :(

Not really--not when you factor in the move saved by staying in Sac.

But I'm also factoring in how much George Maloofs hates Sacramento.

I started love NBA watching King's during Peja/Divac period. It was only NBA games broadcasted in my country. Loved that whole team. You guys deserved better than this. All best, maybe some other team comes in Sacramento in the future. Good luck.

he went on radio and said it was a handshake deal.

Meanwhile:

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/ken-b ... sacramento

Mark Mastrov, the founder of 24-Hour Fitness who finished second to Joe Lacob and Peter Guber in bidding for the Warriors, told CBSSports.com Friday he has interest in buying the Kings and keeping the franchise in Sacramento.

"Definitely, there've been conversations," Mastrov said from his northern California office. "Definitely there's interest in acquiring the team and keeping it in Sacramento."

Mastrov met with the Maloofs recently, and two league sources speaking on condition of anonymity said he has made a formal offer.

Supermarket magnate Ron Burkle has long been interested in buying the Kings and keeping them in Sacramento, and is well known to NBA owners who would approve any sale. But having made it to the final round of the process with the Warriors sale, Mastrov is familiar with the NBA process and league executives are familiar with him.

Another thing Steinmetz said was the deal was announced to potentially drive up prices for potential buyers. He said there was one other one....maybe this is it??

No way any local buyer in Sac would pay 500 million plus for the Kings. After you buy the team then you still have to deal with building or remodeling an arena. The Seattle group has very deep pockets & knows they are going to lose a lot money. Most sport teams lose money, especially in the NBA.

I'm sure Kevin Johnson could get a good arena deal for a local buyer.
