I'm a big believer in leaving no stones unturned but interviewing Bibby's dad is misusing essential time and resources, imo.

Vlade will be an expert at interviewing once this is done... Vlade increasing his GM rating.

Plus I keep saying this, Vlade has a real opportunity here to show these candidates the Kings are moving forward and can be a better place then what the current reputation may say. However that's just a byproduct of this long search. The goal here has to be nailing this hire. Vlade will have to own the results with such an extensive search ... Maybe even more so than a normal coaching hire.

Also, don't forget that some media person, can't remember who, said some of the names mentioned are probably being considering for assistant roles as well. Few come more experienced than Bibby in that regard.

Traditionally doesn't the HC pick his own staff tho?

With all due respect to Corliss as well, some of these interviews might seem to have an ulterior motive. Does it somehow buy Vlade time or give him leverage with the amount of interviews?

Vlade picked a few for the last staff. Not all coaches pick their entire staff. He also might be looking for specialist types of assistants. Karl picked his own specialist types last go around, mostly from the Sixers, and they were an utter disaster for the roster the Kings ended up having. They came from an uptempo offense, defensively versatile roster situation that could switch pick and roll and tried to implement that (albeit still poorly) here without the personnel to pull it off.

Go Vogel!

Plays an traditional offense (something both Rondo & Boogie like). Loves playing 2 bigs (WCS, Cuz). An poor mans PG13 (offensively) in Rudy.

IDK if he'd be interested, but Sac could really use him. He's a tough guy, Cuz loves that ****. Every kone new Karl was a rat.

Let's quit the Vogel talk straight away

He's way too high profile for the Kings. If we couldn't land McHale, we ain't going to land Vogel. He's got bigger fish to fry.

Sucks to hear McHale withdrawing. Vogel should be an obvious candidate. How many vacancies are left? Knicks most believe that Rambis is the guy and Phil is just going thru the motions, Rockets I think they go JVG if he's actually on the table. Maybe the raptors fire Casey if they lose to Miami.

If Vogel wants to coach next year then he may be a realistic option. We need defense bad and he brings a proven system.

I'm still of the opinion Mark Jackson is a good fit for this team. I know his style isn't the best but I feel he was huge in the mental preparation for the Warriors. He would be amazing for Cousins and could connect with him as an old school tough guy.

Yep, sucks about McHale, but this is the new Kings reality. They made their own bed and now Vlade has to lie in it. It's going to be an even tougher uphill climb with free agents this summer than it was last summer as well.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see Jackson as the only realistic "name" option. He's already shown interest in as long ago as last year pre-Karl.

Four vacancies remain: NY Knicks, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, and now Indiana Pacers.

I'm OK with McHale withdrawing. It had sounded like from the beginning the interest from him wasn't strong. I don't want someone here who doesn't want to be here. Next.

I don't hate Jackson as much as others do, and yes it would be hard to see Vogel ending up here. I think he sits out if he doesn't get a job of interest

Of the names supposedly on the table, if it's not Messina, who I still hope is interviewed, McMillan/Jackson/Woodson (whoever impresses the most) sound like they could be asked for another interview. Hopefully we see more names

Rockets are interviewing Kenny Smith. Everyone should back off the Kings interview list right meow!

Well I no longer have a preference as things have developed and with the McHale news.

I guess Jackson makes me nervous still however, don't want him here.

This is where Vivek has to open that checkbook if he wants Vogel. To me, that's the only target there should be right now. He'd be like Mike Malone on steroids.

Is it even possible?

Well If he interviews then I'll put him on my one and only list right now, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

You'd think people would want to coach Cousins!
