Maybe we should have drafted Smith Jr. I know it's only Summer League but he looks like a lot better than Fox. I had a gut feeling about Smith, damn.

Let's go back to June 22. I'll take Dennis Smith Jr. at 5 and Donovan Mitchell at 10.

Other than the team that won it few years ago, why do the Kings have such underachieving, **** summer league teams? Maybe to match the **** regular season team.

This whole roster is hot garbage. I hate Papagiannis sloth game and stone hands. Skal has a long way to go. Jackson is hit and miss. Fox has a way to go and needs to get in weight room and improve jumper. I said it in earlier post but Smith is a much better all around player right now.

Good news is the regular team will be garbage too and in contention for #1 pick. See you all in October.

I'm worried about Deaaron ankles. I remember when Steph Curry came into the league and he was injury prone because of his ankles.

We got all those draft picks for a reason...this team will be really poor for 2017-18

I don't really see any 2-way contracts coming from this bunch on our Summer League team. While Jack Cooley looks solid, he's 26! He's 6 years older than Papagiannis, in his prime and pretty much at his ceiling. That's not ideal for a developmental 2-way contract roster spot. I really don't see JaKarr Sampson or Luis Montero developing into a solid NBA player, especially since they're both 24.

The 5 DSJ fans on our board (I'm one of them) are looking pretty smart right now.

Yeah. Players aren't picked based on who will put up the most numbers their rookie season. If that were so, MCW would be number 1 pick material. It's about development and intangibles. Fox is a leader, highly intelligent and an awesome person; not to mention super fast with John Wall potential. Dennis Smith has some character concerns, lower intelligence and can be a ball-stopper, over-dribbling type. Not saying Smith can't be a really good player, but I would take Fox as a franchise player over him 10 times out of 10.

Not really.

I'd put that like a million steps below the Mason fans in the second round.

You had what two choices?

Fox or DSJ.

A coin flip would of been as accurate.

And I don't think you got to see what Fox's leadership qualities/vocalizations, nor speed paired with actual NBA players can do.

DSJ may be better on the playground or with scrubs however.

c'mon that's a homer statement and you know it!

As for the rest of your post, being right about DSJ doesnt mean Fox was a bad pick.

It aint a homer pick.

Wait till we've got a speedy guy like WCS to work with who can finish above the rim instead of Papa.

Fox is more of a team basketball guy.

Fox also plays good defense.

What I see from last two years is our coaching staff are seeing summer league is a part of development process by trying to add new skills to second year players. It seem to me like they consistently forced some players for certain plays which are new for them rather than playing to their strengths.

Just remember how they utilized WCS in last year's SL. And who can say it didn't work for him seeing his offensive game.

This year, they forced Hield to be a ball handler, play maker in the half court, and also to either create his long range shoot (not floater, not mid-range) or going to the rim over dribbling.
They forced Skal to demand the ball at the post and play iso rather than playing pick and pop.
They forced PapaG to have the ball on high post and distribute (with Skal at times, as a double post similar to Princeton offense) while his backup Cooley did not get touches there.

So I'm quite surprised that lot of posters here forget how these three had played in NBA and lost their confidence on them based on SL play.

I still think Smith went to the perfect team for him. They are already giving him the keys and the ball, and that's how he'll succeed. What I have noticed is he's looking like advertised. Good with the ball, and already being hidden next to another PG on defense. Him getting 3rds on offense and defending next to Buddy would have had Kings fans crucifying him come the regular season.

And they also forget summer league is called an entirely different way than the regular season.
