Seems like a great fit till you read Woj's piece on Joerger... Kings don't need that drama to follow him here. Wonder if it was a bad situation or a behavior thing with Joerger?

It seems like Grizz management didn't have Joerger's back throughout his stint there. It peeved Joerger off but that didn't affected his ability to win games -- especially when his team was riddled with injuries.

The more I read about Joerger, the more I like him.

He would be a nice get for the Kings.

Good article that explains the relationship between Joerger and Grizz's higher ups:

Blazers fan here. Like many people, when I read about Joerger being fired the first thought was that he is the right guy for your team. He's worked with veteran big men in Randolph and Gasol, so I think working with Cousins will work. Plus I think he would do well coaching Cauley-Stein.

And whether or not it materializes one would have to think that he could at least help in recruiting Mike Conley, who would be a fantastic compliment to Cousins. Good luck and I hope he's the one you end up with.

And Joerger might have been an assistant coach when Rudy Gay was still in Memphis. So he would know Gay's tendencies.

Also, Elston Turner would be associate head coach under Joerger. Get it done, Vlade!

Joerger is the first name that actually excites me.

I'd be happy to end up with any of Joerger, Vogel, or Messina, and possibly partnering up with Elston Turner. It seems (and I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch) that Vlade's deliberate and methodical approach is paying off.

Wow, so you are telling me there is an established candidate that WANTS to work for the Kings!??!

Welcome to grind time! Maybe he'll bring Lance Stephenson with him too if the Kings still have interest. He has an under the radar resurgence in Memphis last year.

Pacers and Rockets are also interested in Joerger. Vlade will have to really sell Joerger on the future of the Kings. Hopefully Bird's comments about Vogel and teams needing to move on from coaches every few years makes the Pacers job less desirable.

Would absolutely want Joerger. Definitely moves to the top of my list of possible coaches with Vogel being second.

According to Marc Stein and Jason Jones, Kings are meeting with Joerger tomorrow. This might move quicker than most expected, including myself! I thought it would get to "final interviews" with 2-3 candidates, but if Vlade knows his guy, then let's move!

It would be an amazing move if the Kings manage to pull this one off.

Joerger is a hell of a coach.

Great fit too, defense is outstanding and coached Marc Gasol, can't imagine that isn't a good thing.

Sounds like this may have been being discussed by the Kings earlier in the week even before he was fired. That could explain the sudden departure by McHale and nothing about any interest in Vogel. The Kings had their sights set on Joerger the whole time I'd bet.
