Looks like Doc Rivers is done with Smith. I've watched the Clippers most the season and Smith has been solid considering doc gives him VERY limited minutes(12mpg) and playing him STRICTLY at Center. Why? I don't know. Well after tonight against the Thunder Doc gave smith a DNP and played Cole Aldrich at C. If you ask Clipper fans they will tell you that smith played fine considering the minutes and him laying out of position. Doc is just an idiot.
Getting him would be a steal imo

A player like Ryan Anderson could give many options for Karl.
The problem is that probably NOLA wish Koufos in return.

Koufos is nice to have, but not something you hold onto with a death grip if you can significantly improve your team and a 3 point shooter next to Cuz the level of Anderson is obvious. Long term, I can't see a trio of Cuz, Koufos, and Willie working anyway. If Willie is going to gets significant minutes at any point that means cutting into some one's minutes. They play small as it is and Anderson/Cuz with Willie backing them up is a very complimentary combo.
If the Pels were willing to do it, the Kings should take the chance. Assuming they can land him in free agency is a bad idea at this point. Look at the big bag of empty they came up with last summer. The best chance is to bring him home, fit him in, and see if it works. If it does that's your advantage in re-signing him.

Cousins and McLemore for Butler and Gasol.
At this point I firmly believe pairing Cousins with Karl is ruining Cousin's career taking him out of the post and turning him into a dribble drive jump shooter. One of these guys needs to go. Obviously my preference is to dump Karl but if not this is the best trade for Cousins. Butler is the best two-way wing that could reasonably be had for Cousins. Guys like Leonard or George are not attainable. What do you guys think?

Just thinking...its Possible Karl views Cousins as the only big who can play that role... With the addition of a guy like Anderson does Cousins move back inside where Koufus and WSC plays and Anderson gets the 3pt line?
If the answer is NO then long-term a Cousins/Karl marriage is bad for Cousins career and the Kings playoffs chances.

I've thought about that myself but the fact that Cousins remains on the perimeter even when he's flanked by Casspi and Gay tells me the answer is no.
I don't think it can be understated how detrimental this is to Cousins. He's still passing impeccably out of the post but you can see that his post moves are not as good and he rushes himself during the rare opportunities that he does get touches.

Playing devils advocate here, maybe Karl is purposefully sticking Cuz in as many pick and rolls and dribble drive sets as possible so he will get used to it quicker? Just throwing it all on him at once so he can work through the kinks before putting him into a more balanced situation? There has been better balance since they supposedly talked, it wavers though.

Putting your All-Star in a sink or swim situation? Why? That would be stubbornness on Karl's part.

And what would be unusual about that?

Wouldn't trade Koufos for Ryan Anderson. Definitely not limiting WCS minutes for Anderson. The improved spacing would be nice but he's too much of a defensive liability.

Id assume that WCS would inherit Koufus' minutes

Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
Collison said this in the Bee tonight:
http://www.sacbee.com/sports/nba/sacramento-kings/kings-blog/article51440630.html
"(I'm) not all the way comfortable, and that has a lot to do with me coming off the bench," Collison said. "Obviously, everybody looks at me as a starter, and that's more where my (comfort) is. But as far as playing 30, 35 minutes, getting starters minutes, I can't complain. I'm just doing the best I can in the minutes I have and continue to run the team."
The first half of that paragraph is why I have doubts on DC as long term as much as I love him and his play has gotten better. I think he seems himself as a starter and hasn't mentally accepted his role, which is part of the kind of lower energy he's brought in weeks prior, and it might be harder to retain him past next year. Because I'm a fan of his I wouldn't mind him accepting being one of the best back ups in the league and working on playing with Rajon, but I don't know if that is where his head is at. Hopefully he continues to bring positive play like tonight though

Calculated quote by Collison. No surprise it comes after the game he just had against Indy . . .

Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
C's fan, I've posted here before- even before Rondo went to SAC I followed your team for the talent level, and the drama.. Liked the off-season acquisitions but knew the pieces wouldn't fit together- Vlade needs to work the trade market extremely well.
Still hoping you all will deal Mclemore for some veteran help, ideally from Boston.. He's being smothered in SAC as far as I can tell.
I'd also be careful with Collison, who was a big surprise last year, because Rondo could very easily walk in the summer without even a goodbye.
A good bet might be Rudy Gay to Phoenix for their Morris (a stretch-ish 4) and one of their small forwards..

Well, here's the difference currently. With Koufos you are all but sticking Willie on the bench for all eternity. With Anderson who do you think gets the backup C spot?

Vlade needs to realize that it's probably time. He said he had teams trying to get him from the Kings in the summer but he still sees the upside. That's been the Kings problem for more than a few years, they pick up a talent with no way to actually showcase them because they have too many needs that aren't shot related.
No way is Gays value that low. I still think PJ Tucker would be great for this team though.
