The $14.5 million deal will include a $1.5 million buyout provision on the $5 million owed Karl in the final year of the contract, a source told Yahoo Sports.

Karl will earn $1.25 million for the rest of the 2014-15 season, which will begin with his Kings debut after the All-Star break on Feb. 20 against Boston. Karl is set to earn $3.25 million in 2015-16 and $5 million per season in the final two years of the deal, a source said.

5 million for next season.

Does they buyout disappear if they fire him? He's almost paid up for this year anyway, so 6.25 after the rest this year. Big whoops. Just like every other blunder Vivek has made chalk it up to learning experience.

Here's the funny thing in all this. As soon as the heat turns up on Karl, now the New York job opens? Haha. Kings trolled themselves again, see ya Thibs! This is why sitting on your hands is dangerous.

KARL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EFFORT TOO. I see a lot of people arguing effort as a defense for Karl in the media

Half the job of a coach is to get players to want to play for you

Another thing, I will not hold Cousins lack of effort during the stretch on him

He wants Karl fired. Karl gets fired by the Kings getting hammered..........

The Sacramento Kings are going ahead with a coaching change and plan to fire George Karl in the coming days, league sources told ESPN.

NBA coaching sources told ESPN that the Kings have decided internally that a change on the bench is needed and is likely to happen after Sacramento plays its final game before the All-Star break Wednesday in Philadelphia.

After Sacramento's listless 120-100 loss Monday in Cleveland, with Karl's dismissal increasingly regarded as an inevitability in league coaching circles, sources said the decision to proceed with a change on the bench is being made by Kings general manager Vlade Divac.

Kings get a bad wrap for firing coaches but that's not the real problem. Look at this list, the real problem has been finding a good coach. They had one in Malone but PDA/Mullin had a twisted plan to get Karl hired. Karl, bless his old heart, is just not the same coach that made him a HOF'er and its time he retired or became a great assistant coach somewhere... The Kings issue is the quality of coaching they have hired. Hopefully, Vlade hiring his first coach this offseason, will get it right!

Name me One coach other than Malone who went on to be successful as a HC elsewhere?

Like I said in my last post, the coaches fired have been garbage. That's a problem.

if they really intend on firing karl, why not do it already? I'm not a fan of karl but when everyone knows the intent already, it's just wrong to delay it...

Firing him on a late night flight may not have been ideal. Tomorrow Vlade gonna eat his corn flakes and fire Karl afterwards? He better. Don't drag it out.
