Re: Kings General Discussion 2018-2019
I am vicariously enjoying your season, Kings fans. Half of my family is in Sacramento, so I hear about every win and watch half the games. Your front office is looking pretty smart after suffering a ton of criticism. It's well merited.
Good luck!
Good luck!

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

Doubt they trade Porter now - he would have been perfect on this team. The only way I could see it happen is if it was Porter/Mahimni for expirings + picks.
The Kings shouldn't do this given how well the team is playing. Just keep them together and let them run.
I don't think trading for Ariza means the Wiz aren't going to blow it up this offseason. I think they traded for Ariza because they know they weren't going to be resigning Oubre, so they get the best player they could find. If he doesn't help, they can still trade everyone (including Ariza if he isn't combined with another player). So, the Porter dream may not be dead.
You could very well be right and Porter would fit really well on this team and doesn't fit so well on the Wizards.
I just look at it like this, these are the players they have under contract for next year
Wall
Beal
Brown
Porter
Howard, Mahimni
Guessing the only way they move Porter is for picks or if someone also takes Mahimni. I don't think there is a win/win there for both teams. But, you are talking one of the stupidest GM's in the league, so - EG could move Porter for expiring contracts, you never know.

NOBODY in the league is stupid enough to take on nearly $50 million/year in salary without multiple picks included. That’s signing your own firing papers as a GM. Let alone including any real talent going back.

So you don't take Curry or Westbrook?
But that is exactly why Wall isn't going anywhere. And exactly why the Wizards can't move Mahimni. And why Porter probably stays put.

Let’s not twist what I am saying. You don’t take on a Porter/Mahnimi combo that locks up half your cap. That is just career suicide.

Sorry - guess the green font doesn't convey in the different forums. My point is that it isn't career suicide if done correctly. All good though...

Not good to have your second best player just add a year. We need to be taking steps forward

It really doesn't change anything at all. The Kings obviously knew how old he was since they'd have his official documents.

THey did, but we as fans didn’t. And it’s not good for your second best player to add a year. Not sure if he counts as ‘young’ talent anymore, and a year off prime.
Let’s hope for a lengthy career

He didn’t. I didn’t mean to imply he did. I just meant we as an organization need to be taking steps forward to becoming better

OK, not that big of a deal in the long run but it's also why it's a good thing the Kings didn't keep dragging their feet on playing players like him and Bogdan. They are two years away from the start of their prime and are showing they can play now.

Agreed on the last part. Any teams window is usually within a few years of them looking competitive anyhow. The clock was already ticking and now that they have no pick and hopefully don't suck, the draft won't be much of an option to add talent down the line so it's all in anyway. Vlade has put the team in a great spot, we'll see how he plays his cards. Buddy's a star SG whether he's 25 or 26.

Yeah that’s not an every game thing though.
His disappearing moments really hurt. And on top of that he plain cannot create for himself I matter what.
Montrezal Harrell but a little bigger.
And a LOT more expensive.

The Kings should have went hard for Capela last summer and traded WCS and the other bigs to make room for him and Bagley.

Houston was matching any offer thrown at Capela, it wouldn't have mattered if we made an offer to him or not, he'd still be a Rocket.
