Sounds like from Katz that Reggie is really impressed with Thompson. I hope this works out.

I'm excited to add Thompson. I wanted him, just not at 12

I just wanted someone that Sacramento can get excited about...

Yeah, sure, this guy may have scoring potential, but we need an interior defender. What the heck.

We could have traded down and got our choice of Thompson/Randolph/Arthur/etc... :-?

Well maybe no one wanted to trade up? We picked the best bigman available (in their eyes) so whats the huge deal?

Well, Randolph went at 14, so we couldn't have moved down too far. And if Petire and Theus are really that impressed with the guy, why take a chance moving down? He's not necessarily that much of a stretch at 12.

HE averaged 2.7 assist....

Hawes+Thompson = Princeton offense

I like the pick because he can rebound and play defense too.

KingInExile wrote:Thompson? What? I really don't know what to think right off. He's a solid guy who can rebound and we need that. I guess I was looking for someone with more of a "athletic" presence, but Thompson looks like he should have the fundamentals to get the job done. I guess I will trust Petrie and wait and see how this works out. Who knows, there could be more in the works.

Bingo...

The Blazers will send the rights to Rush and Jarrett Jack to the Pacers for the rights to Bayless and Ike Diogu. I think this is a great pick for the Pacers. Rush should be a great fit in the backcourt with T.J. Ford because he defends, shoots the ball and has great size in the backcourt. Rush is one of the most NBA-ready players in the draft.

Rumor starting to float around (on the Draft Night page) that Portland may trade Brandon Rush and Jarrett Jack to Indy for Bayless. This could get interesting.

This is a highway robbery by the Blazers, trading for a steal while exchanging 2 marginal players.

Look at what the Blazers have been doing on draft night for the last couple of years. They are getting good at making killer draft deals.

Hey, you know what? Immediately, I was very surprised we took Thompson, and kinda disappointed we didn't take Arthur...

However, I'm intrigued by Thompson with his overall size and ability on both ends of the court

I just didn't expect us at all to pick him there because he just wasn't out there much around that range, and familiarity wasn't nearly as high as with other players.

And obviously Geoff and Theus are very high on him

I think this will turn out to be a good, legit pick at #12 in this draft

Hey, two games doesn't make a difference right?

Mitch and Smills and others,

Having the 11th or 12th pick doesn't mean anything correct?

It's all the same, it doesn't matter at all.

Nope, not at all.

Bayless = Thompson

Its all the same

Meanwhile, we just sit on our asses while Bayless was ONE pick away from us.

I'm not surprised Philly took Speights over Arthur because of Speights offense, which is what they need most up front.

Should be a good pick for them as long as Speights improves his general mentality

Yeah, I give Jason a chance like Hawes from last year. I hope Jason impresses us Kings fans. Again, I like his game but he is kinda of a reach at #12. But who knows, he could be a solid pick at #12. :)
