You tell me

It would be incredibly smart for him to explore his options. He’s an aging player who deserves to be on a winning team. He’s allowed to do what he did. The deadline was in his contract. We knew that!

Not arguing with that, particularly the winning part, which is what IMO made it tough.

With Garrett opting in I think that probably takes the Kings out of the running for any major FA's. Garrett get your coaching hat on bro and enjoy the bench.

Who am I kidding, Temple, Zbo, and Kosta are going to start right? lol.

Was there ever really any doubt that Garrett Temple wasn't opting in?

I like taking a look at Sampson and Nigel Hayes over Caboclo. I'm intrigued by Wenyen Gabriel too.

Agreed. Sampson is cheap help and we know he makes an impact defensively. Coboclo just doesn’t cut it. Gabriel is intriguing to me, but only as a 2-way player. I don’t want to use a roster spot on him just yet.

I think there was a real chance that he would leave to a winning squad. The issue was the money. Was he going to get paid $4mil per year anywhere? Probably not. That makes it highly unpalatable to leave. If he could get $4 Million per year on a contender, then I think he would’ve left.

TBH, I like his presence. He's a great professional, and a respected veteran around the league. In addition to that, he's good a two way bench player. Kings are trying to build a new culture where every player feel comfortable and working hard. And he's definitely helping that. Hield is visiting Bogdan in Serbia while Fox, Giles and Bagley hanging together

Id rather see us sign a PG two way along with Sampson. Roster balance and PG injury insurance.

I honestly hope we sign actual backup PG like a Fred VanVleet, Shelvin Mack or even a Shane Larkin. I'm not a real big Frank Mason fan though.

Same. I'm not a big Frank fan. ... Which is why I kind of am open to Lavine because he would take all of Mason's minutes along with whatever role Joerger assigns him

I could get behind this actually if we feel Bogdan can play the bulk of his minutes at the 3. A minute distribution something like this (assuming a 20 minute restriction for Giles):

Fox(32) - Lavine(12) - Bogdan(4)
Lavine(20) - Buddy(20) - Temple(8)
Bogdan(26) - Jackson(15) - Buddy(7)
Bagley(26) - Skal(17) - Giles(5)
Giles(20) - WCS(25) - Koufos(8) <-- you can flip WCS/Giles in the starting lineup too if you wanted to balance out the rebounding.

Minute totals would be:
Fox - 32
Lavine - 32
Bogdan - 30
Bagley - 26
WCS - 25
Buddy - 27
Giles - 20
Skal - 17
Jackson - 15
Koufos - 8
Temple - 8

This leaves out Mason, Shump and Zbo though. I feel like we have to move some of these guys.

And that's is an even grosser and more destructive platoon rotation than last year. They have to start whittling this thing down to their top 9 players so they can start producing before the entire rest of the league writes the young guns off. If they would have committed full on last year they may have been able to get back into the late lottery this year like they wanted to according to some rumors.

The Kings have to at some point be free of their dead cap space. Barnes comes off the books next year finally. I guess there are ways for them to get back into the FA market but if they sign someone to a big contract and have to put millions in dead cap on in the process that does nothing but hamper their chances of adjusting over the next few years as these rookies have to start being re-signed.

No problem having Temple opting in. Not a real big fan of this years free agent class. Mario, Jabari, Lavine, none of these guys do it for me. Id rather wait till next season and try to max out Tobias if we cant solve our SF issue via trade.

Id rather get a backup pg than a SF who isn't the real solution. FVV or Id love if the Pacers cut Collison (hes non guaranteed) and we bring him back for 1 year decent money.

You could just completely cut Koufos and Temple from the rotation and that's an extra 16 minutes to sprinkle around those other 9. Without Koufos/Temple in the rotation (I only really added them for garbage time type minutes) I would definitely be able to live with that rotation.

This is the summer they won’t have league wide competition due to teams with cap, important for this team

Stretching Iman means a hit for two years after this right before Fox comes up

They’d do it only if they had a deal in hand - I’m looking at you Capela/Nurkic
