What if the Lakers pass on Ball and take Fox or Jackson?

Say it works out like

Bos - Fultz
LA - Fox
Phil - Monk or Jackson
Phx - Jackson or Tatum

How do you feel about Ball?

Is he the PG we can build around or do you value Tatum over him?

Yes I think he's a PG we can build around because he gets others involved. Still suspect on his ability to create or defend at the NBA level, but he should do just fine helping the other guys grow.

Side note, I remember hearing Phoenix was falling in love with the idea of taking him at #2 before they fell to #4.

I'm concerned about the baggage. There's lots of praise for his game, but the asterisk next to is name has to do with his father. Considering that we just unloaded what was clearly our biggest problem in terms of culture, I feel drafting ball would be a step backwards.

Yeah, peaking at their threads, the Phx fans seem to like him as well.

I wonder if that would mean Bledsoe or Knight would be on the block?

Yup that was my thought as well. I just don't wanna go back to the drama. And while I don't think the player would create it as he has never shown anything like an attitude that I have seen in the many UCLA games I've watched, you can't deny that his father plans to stay in his ear on thru his career.

Talent wise tho he looks great. I encourage anyone unfamilar to head over to the Suns thread. DarealJuice has writeups on the top 6 guys that pretty extensive. I know I learned a few things.

Phoenix would be wise to move Bledsoe the second they draft one of Fultz, Fox, Ball, or DSJ. Something like Bledsoe to Dallas for #9 makes sense. New York at 8 is probably his peak in terms of value. Sweet spot is realistically 12-15

You always answer the phone, just need to know when to hang up.

In other words for what?

Knicks #8 pick and a pick swap next year.

I wouldn't do this due to the nature of our big board but others answer may differ.

In your scenario who is still available at 5? If Fox is available this is an easy No for me.

A pick swap? The Kings have a very good chance of having the most lotto balls depending on their approach to next season.

Yeah that isn't even remotely close. We are a team that is clearly rebuilding and everything Vlade has done since he pulled the trigger on the DMC trade goes along those lines.
That means we are heading for a top 5 pick, perhaps, next season.
The Knicks haven't come out and even said about a rebuild (I could be wrong though).
We know Melo is on the block of course but its more realistic that Phil tries to compete than tear the thing down, particularly given KP strong view to management about competing.
Given these things I can't help but think NY will be a better team, record wise, than the Kings next season.
So I ask you, would you swap #5 for #8?
A pick swap only makes sense in a trade if it actually has a good chance of coming off.
If you want a pick swap in 18 in a trade like this one then a 2019 lottery protected 1st rounder would be in there as well.

Collins is running away with the vote at #11 on the Hornets board.

I'm starting to get uncomfortable with how open the connection is between us and Fox. Don't get me wrong, he is still my #1 guy at 5 but I think telegraphing our shot could work against us in some way. Any team that really likes him knows they have to get above 4th now. Just a feeling I got. Not like we can do anything about it now haha

As Kings fans we stay having bad feelings about everything. Lol. I'm sure Fox never makes it to #5 because Fox at 5 makes too much sense for Sac.

The #5 isn't Fox or bust. DSJ or Tatum will still be there.

Yeah I was concerned about that too. But with all the mock drafts having him going in the top 5, telegraphing our interest isn't going to make much of difference. Teams willing to sell the farm are going to have to get in the top 5 to get him anyway. If that's the case, maybe we should consider the price of the farm?

Good God 96% of you want De'Aaron Fox?!? Can't say I'm surprised.

Return to Sacramento Kings
