VladFather has been demoted to VladChild. Take the deal!

I would have taken the deal.

What was Vlade thinking? No one is giving up a 1st for Dedmon.

A large portion of Vlade’s future is tied to Dedmon/CoJo/Hield extensions.
You get the feeling Vlade is going to ride this out.

I’m not too fazed either way. BUT if the Kings don’t make the POs this season Vlade needs to be gone, along with Peja and the new GM can have their say on the coaching position too.
Honestly if you were Vivek wouldn’t you be consulting with an outside source to hold an all inclusive review of the Kings, including ownership?
That doesn’t necessarily mean firings everywhere etc, but a review to see where things are going wrong and recommendations to get this thing back on track.
There simply HAS to be a review of the FO/coaching staff after such a poor showing.

Amick did mention he wouldn't be surprised if Vivek was vetoing trades right now.

The thing with Vivek is I don't think he can ever be a competent owner. You need at least some basic understanding of basketball which I truly don't believe he possesses.

So much for Vivek putting a freeze on moves.

At least Vlade is getting rid of Walton’s Ariza fascination over James. Isn’t that what he did with Joerger’s over reliance on Shumpert?

I like the move for both teams. Kings make Walton use someone who isn’t Ariza. Blazers save money.

I hope Justin James absorbs some of these minutes. Bazemore will be a nice pickup as well. His ball handling and defense will be an asset.

I like it for both teams as well. Gives us another ball handler off the bench.

That seems about right. I just hope this does something for the team. Like wake up guys. I’m happy to have Tolliver back. I always loved his attitude and I hope he can be a mentor to the young guys. It’s interesting that this opened up a roster spot.

I liked Ariza for what it’s worth. He’s a good guy to have around. He was just receiving far too many minutes.

Hope Bazemore works out for you all, seems like an awesome dude, but he was just awful in his short stint with Portland. Tolliver as well, he was sold as a solid bench big who can be a knockdown 3... he has had one memorable game all season with the Blazers.

Again, both good dudes and hope the best for them on the Kings.

All in all, feels like a shuffle the deck move for both squads to see if each other’s ill-fitting pieces will work better elsewhere. Portland also got a bit of tax savings, so there’s that. /shrug

I agree with it feeling like a shuffle move. I am happy to have Tolliver back, but I hope he’s an end of bench guy. I think our needs (ball handler, defense) are a good fit for what Bazemore brings. I’m happy to hear that they were both good dudes for you guys.

I hope good Ariza shows up for you guys. When his shot is falling, he is valuable. He tends to get trigger happy too often, but he still brings defense and effort. Good luck PDX.

If nothing more, we turned Ariza into 2 2nds. I like that. Now if we can do the same with Dedmon and begin to rely heavily on the youngins. As many minutes as possible for Giles, Bagley, Holmes, Bogdan, James, Buddy, Fox. Lets find out who needs to stay and who needs to go over the next 40.

Well, the Kings didn't really lose defense. So that's a plus. Tolliver. Good locker room guy obviously but, meh. Been there, done that.

With the way Vlade absolutely wiped his butt with the picks he had last year that doesn't give me much hope. He could have had Paschall. Could have had Schofield. Could have had Bol Bol. That and he still would have landed JJ later. :banghead:

You nailed it. Hopefully the only contract we are stuck with is the awful Joseph contract.

Fox/?/Joseph
Heild/?
Barnes/James(?)
Bagley/Bjelica
Homes/?

1 First Round 2020 Pick
Up to 3 Second Round 2020 Picks

Figure out if you can sign Bogdan & Giles...

If Fox and Bagley finally break out (as Fox is doing this month), it could be a very fast soft rebuild.

Portland has hoped for the same with Bazemore, but he just never found a good groove for whatever reason.

Tolliver was at best only meant to be a 9th or 10th man for Portland, but the Blazers have been decimated by injuries this season so it’s forced them to need him to produce and he looks legit old and slow out there.

I’m kinda surprised the Blazers didn’t target Dedmon actually. He would have been a great backup for Whiteside and Nurk whenever he’s back. Maybe that’s why Portland initially came calling and the conversation pivoted to this deal.

But would the Blazers want to pay Dedmon next year? Ariza isn't fully guaranteed so this won't have many implications on their cap moving forward.

Hate to state the obvious... but if the Atlanta rumor was true from Amick, then Vlade has a better deal two days ago:
