I think that we're going to trade for Andrew Wiggins.

They would never use him to dump Deng.
Kuzma on the other hand.... Especially if they bring Randle back.

They are said to be higher on Kuzma than anyone else on their roster minus lebron.
They will eventually make moves to get off of deng's contract...question is just how desperate will they get. Currently they are the 3rd or 4th best team in the conference and there's no way 33-year old Lebron came to LA to get bounced in the 2nd round. More Laker moves (for star players) are coming.

Re: RE: Re: Kings Off-Season
Regardless of who they are high on I think we can agree Kuzma and Ingram are their biggest trade assets... Spurs will more than likely demand both for Kawhi. I have a hard time seeing Kawhi moved for only one of those players straight up. Plus Lonzo is off the table with an MCL.kingjawn100 wrote:City of Trees wrote:Lakers were refusing to include Ingram for Kawhi, right?

just read Kings are no longer pursuing Jabari Parker.
I guess it's Lavine or bust? Or is there something else in store?

Re: Kings Off-Season
With LaVine, Parker, and possibly Hood as top available free agents but all restricted I'm thinking of bringing back once beloved King Tyreke Evans. He had a great year last year and has really matured in his game. He's still great at driving but has also significantly improved his 3 pt shot. It's mostly layups and 3's for Tyreke and exactly the way the game is now played. There's no money out there for him so he could take MLE or the Kings could give him a larger short contract say 2 years $24 million with year 2 player option. He's so much better than Hezonja and Justin Jackson and there is that sentimental draw. LaVine still has most upside but our one and only ROY could be a nice addition.

I've heard Thunder, Lakers or Warriors. Not sure why he would pick LA. With Stephenson, Ingram, Lebron, Hart, KCP.. That 5 guys who primarily play 2/3. I guess Lebron/Kuz could play pf/center a decent amount? And I guess it could make sense if Ingram/Hart/Kuz are headed out the door for Kawhi.
Mcgee/Brook/Wagner
Lebron/Bonga
Kawhi/Stephenson
KCP/Tyreke

Re: Kings Off-Season
I don't see the fit here for Lavine. Evans... yeah, he has improved his shot, but unfortunately not sure if a second comeback will have different results.
I wouldn't mind to make a run for Nurkic or Capela. I have zero expectations in Skal, and don't see WCS as a consistent starter (in fact, IMO the sooner we trade him the better, maybe we have already waited too much). At least, forcing the Blazers or the Rockets to go to the cap hell would be worth it.
It's depressing seeing the rosters in the West right now... The most optimistic prevision would have the Kings at.. 13 in the West or something like that? I hope at least the brilliant management has learned a thing or two about future swaps and unprotected picks.

Hey lets not forget the Kings see a lot of teams rest stars when we play them.Crimson King wrote:I don't see the fit here for Lavine. Evans... yeah, he has improved his shot, but unfortunately not sure if a second comeback will have different results.

2 wins vs GSW last season for this reason.

Re: Kings Off-Season
I would be fine with signing Lavine if the plan is for him to soak all backup PG minutes and Bogdan plays the bulk of his minutes at the 3. I can get behind that.

0 career playoff wins
202-327 career record (6th worst win% of any active player)
For reke, if he does chose LA, its probably a combo of being on a winning team for the first time in his career and still playing a pretty substantial role,

I know his contract is crazy but I wouldn't mind if it was just a salary dump for Minnesota. We are not going to sign a 20 ppg free agent this year or next and Wiggins is inline with the age of our core. Shumpert for Wiggins. Saves TWolves money this year and over the course of his contract. Thibs gets a potential D wing in Shumpert on an expiring contract. Kings would need to run run run with Fox, Bogi, Wiggins, Bagley, WCS, Buddy, Giles and Co. Run and shoot 3's and hope to "out athleticism" and outscore opponents.

This is my thought as well. Start LaVine at SG and Bogi at SF. Buddy as 6th man. LaVine has star upside. If Fox improves we'd have a great back court. If Bagley and Giles live up to hype we could be onto something. Ultimately the success is going to come down to Joerger and being creative with the style of play with the roster. We'd be one the most athletic teams in the NBA. Run like crazy and shoot tons of 3's. A traditional approach isn't going to get it done in the stacked West.

Re: Kings Off-Season
i've said it before but all of the inactivity makes me think Vlade/Joerger might be safe regardless of what our record is this upcoming season.
If Vivek really is fine with Vlade putting all the chips into next summers free agents and is willing to pass on this summer could he really fire him when the roster is more or less the same as last year? Seems like Vlade is the one that's gonna be using the cap room next year.
i mean i guess you could argue the opposite, that the Kings could lure a really experienced GM (David Griffin/Sam Hinkie) next summer as all that money to spend would be pretty appealing.

What if Vlade is secretly working on a Kawhi trade and planning a follow up of Zach Lavine?

Lol hey Kawhi... We are a 1 hour flight from LA and you don't want all the headache and pressure of playing in LA with Lebron. Come on down to Sacramento! You will be our star

I honestly don't see why their jobs should be on the line in the first place honestly. This team has no business making the playoffs for at least another 2-3 years, especially with how stacked the West continues to get. Barring a drastic screw up or Joerger completely not playing the young guys, I don't see why they should be on the hot seat.

The Kings have been left standing how many times? They keep going after restricted free agents so they have to have finally figured out that it will take some sort of trade to acquire them. I don't doubt most of it is Vlade driving up prices, he can't honestly think teams will turn down players signing their first rookie max contracts. Those aren't impossible to move even in the worst case scenarios.
