Call me crazy but I would never trade Bagley for AD. Even if AD agreed to resign. Dude is straight Charmin.

The strange thing is I can see this same thing happening down the road with Bags. But I'm with you on the no trade solely because of the amount of time we have him on a good deal.

Me too! I am still excited to see how Barnes fits and excited to watch Bagley as he starts getting more minutes with the starters. Gonna be fun!

It seems to me that Vlade has put a little bit of a premium on players who seem happy to play in "a small town like Sacramento". Fox seemed to be happy to be here when he was drafted. Bagley said over and over again he wanted to be here. Even Giles, who tweeted something about Sacramento in high school, seemed fine with Sacramento when he was drafted. I think Vlade's thinking is that you get players who are happy to be here now and they won't want to leave once you are winning. Let's hope that works. I think it will. The core of the early 2000s teams never left willingly. The only players who left were the 8th or 9th men.

I think it all comes down to winning. Players seem to universally leave when the team is not winning at the level they expect whether it be AD (failure to make playoffs) or KD/LeBron (failure to win championships).

I totally agree with you both. With Bags I think it will be winning combined with pay. I just don't get that comforting feeling from him like I get from the other core guys. It's all feeling and opinion and is based on his early gripes at playing time and usage. I could very well be wrong and will be glad that I am, if proven so.

Fox/Bagley are two different creatures in “wanting to play for Sacramento”. With De’aaron I feel that’s genuine. He worked out here first, spurned other top picks, and has been real about his affection. Bagley wanted to be picked high and had good things to say about the field of top picks.

Just wanted to show alittle love for Swanigan. He played his first game with D-league Stockton tonight and played well. He has skill around the rim and a nice stroke from midrange out to the 3. He needs to get in better shape but hopeful that is what he will do down there. 18pts, 18rebs, 5ast. I can see him being our big body off the bench if he does get the weight worked out. But with these projects you never know. I'm definitely rooting for him.

Speaking of his weight, has anyone been following his weight in his professional career. I know that he had big weight issues when he was an early teen, but I know basketball got in him in shape or whatever. (I know, I know, I need to read his story. People keep telling me...). How has his weight been as a pro? I am sure being on the road constantly doesn't help....

I think of Swanigan as less of a project than most big men at his level. Skill wise he's already there. I hope he gets a legit shot to get into the rotation at some point because I think he's right up Joergers alley as for what he looks for in a big man.

I agree that he is pretty much there skill wise as a young big man but the work needs to be done on his body and consistency. He is a project in those terms. I watched the whole game and you can see his weight limits his vertical and conditioning and speed. All things we want in our big men. That is what makes him a project. To me it looks like he is carrying 10 to 15 extra "bad" pounds. He could convert that to muscle or just drop a few while getting in better shape. And he isn't in terrible shape, just could and should be better. Either way, I think its realistic for him to come into camp, next year, ready to contribute.

According to everything that I have read he has hovered around 250 his whole pro career (2years).

He is a quick hopper like Bagley and has a 7'3 wingspan standing 6'9 so that helps him on the glass. Combined with his skill and soft hands, he is on the verge of being a really good prospect for us. His game will never be above the rim but dropping some weight and gaining some leg strength and conditioning will really help him in the pros. They loved his energy in Portland and he was first team all NCAA, so you know he can play. I just think his weight and/or lack of explosion both laterally and vertically is what keeps him on the bench and what he needs to improve.

After 100000 years of searching for a starting SF, the Kings finally get one in Harrison Barnes. And what does Joerger do? Decides to start Barnes at PF and Bogi at SF. And, according to Sactown Royalty at least, Joerger says this is the starting 5 of the future.

I find this hilarious. And it can't just be me.

But it is the right move. Then on days with bigger PFs, they should start Bagley and move Bogi back to the bench.

I am just a little concerned about the bench now. I guess the idea is that depending on the day, you have Bogi or Bagley there to be the focus of the offense.

Yeah, 1games out of 25 remaining games vs the best team in the league (maybe best team of all-time, spit!) that we lost by 2pts in the last seconds.

This is a positive. We have to move on and play just like this down the stretch. We will beat the majority of the league playing like this.

Agreed.

This loss stings BUT should increase the confidence moving forward.

If your team feels they can hang with the Warriors, they can hang with anyone.

Certainly a more positive approach... I was thinking more Denver and Golden State...

Yeah, the 2 best teams in the west by a decent margin.

...and Ferrell, while still having Giles playmaking and Brewers defense as well.

What I'm waiting for is Burks breakout game. It's gonna happen down the stretch when we need him in one of these games. We'll all write alittle post about him flashing this ability in Utah and being an important piece in the future. I'd like to see some sets drawn up for him to see what he can really do for us.

I like it to be honest. I think it's long overdue that he's put his most talented wing players out there together. The next step is Bagley at center. They have to learn to play as a unit at some point. The sooner they figure it out the better. I liked what he did with Bogdan. Take him out at about halfway into the first then sub him in off the bench later. That's a good way to maximize his talent.

I'm rooting for you guys, you definitely deserve to be in the playoffs. But the fix is in !!! Both James Harden and CP3 fouled out last night against the Lakers lol the NBA will do everything it can to get the Fakers in the playoffs. Good luck I hope you guys can overcome this. I would really hate the Celtics getting a lotto pick as well.

Return to Sacramento Kings
