I have to stop myself from going there most of the time. Its amazes me how Buddy and Barnes are viewed as such huge negatives that we need to "dump". Then i'll see an article suggesting we move Buddy for far more value and they shoot it down like its crazy. Then Bjelica/Holmes guys who we've seen time and time again get moved for firsts, are only good enough to move us from #35 + #43 to #27 or some trash.
Maybe they will be right, but it seems like that board follows a clear herd mentality where when 1 person whose trusted declares it as truth, everyone else is wrong. I prefer to hold and see. 40%+ 3pt shooters don't grow on trees. Wings who have no major weaknesses don't either. The reality is that we are coming off a down season, so maybe these guys are valued at an all time low, and maybe in a general sense that is their "value" but we've seen time and time again when a team has a major need they will pay to fill that (e.g. Sixers with shooting)
I hear you guys.... I really do.
It's deflating as a trade board fan whenever I make my way over there to see lopsided deals that I know none of us believe the team would agree to but we see the T&T board feels differently.
As everyone is aware the Trade board is a melting pot of our basketball community. I have a few tips for engaging on the trade board that I think helps me navigate the board without finding myself constantly in a defensive position.
#1 Don't take it too seriously
The casual fan watches only a handful of Kings games each season and will form opinions from that small sample size. Don't overreact to the casual fan trade proposal. I see them posted every day and it will never go away. Each fan base deals with this issue its not exclusive to Sacramento. Approach these threads with grace and educate. It's effective and other posters will read as well which can build your reputation on the board.
#2 Be calculated in your replies
You can't win every disagreement. You can't change every narrative. Sometimes less is more. Nothing hits harder than a reply that kills their argument in one reply.
#3 Engage in non Kings trade topics
One way to boost YOUR reputation in the board is to interact with fans on trade ideas not related to your team. Be objective. Be calm. Plant those seeds and you will begin to notice better interactions the next time you run into those posters in a thread related to the Kings.
#4 Don't argue with the mods
If you find a mod is giving you extra "attention" it's not because they dislike the Kings it's probably related to how you interacted with them previously. If you feel attacked by a mod we have ways of handling those issues. My DM's are always open and I will go to bat for all of you as long as you handled yourself within the rules. My advice here is don't get hung up on disagreements with mod opinions. They don't hold more weight than yours. Win the disagreement over with in depth analysis and facts.
#5 I don't need to claim victory
We are all people. Sometimes I find myself interacting with a poster who is just too emotional or prideful to admit they are wrong. I stated my case which I know is right. Other posters can read and decide for themselves.
There is only a small group of you that represent us on the T&T board. What do you think our reputation is based on how we've been posting?
