Ideal offseason for the kings if they get #2 pick

Post#1 » by desquivel18 » Tue Apr 27, 2010 4:09 am

Realistically i think that this would be a good offseason for the kings (and without signing any big names):
-Draft Evan Turner with the #2 pick.
-Trade Hawes, Noc,2nd rounder to Utah for 9th pick and fesenko
-Draft Hassan Whiteside with 9th pick
-Sign Anthony Morrow for a 3 point threat that we dont have
-Sign Brendan Haywood to make an immediate impact on defense and on the boards. (He can also help hassan develop)
-Sign Steve Blake to handle the point behind udrih

Kings would end up with
PG Beno Udrih/Steve Blake/Tyreke Evans
SG Tyreke Evans/Cisco Garcia/Anthony Morrow
SF Evan Turner/Omri Casspi/ Donte Greene/Cisco Garcia
PF Carl Landry/Jason Thompson/Hassan Whiteside
C Brendan Haywood/Jason Thompson/Hassan Whiteside

What do you think? i think this team can make some noise, but thats just me

I would love that team to death.

But I don't think Utah does that deal... at all. I think they'd make us take AK, which, I wouldn't be opposed to, since I don't think we're gonna get anything out of our capspace.

I really doubt that we'll be able to get Haywood since I think Dallas or another team will overpay to keep him, but I could see us making a run for Blake or Morrow. Morrow would be the perfect SG off the bench for us, a la JR Smith (without the headache).

Also, I think Turner would start (eventually) at SG for our team. I would rather have a consistent 3 PT shot from our SF (Casspi/Greene) than Turner. Turner shot 36% from 3, which isn't bad, but that wasn't at the NBA 3 point line...so Beno would be only real 3PT threat with that starting lineup.

Evans/Udrih
Turner/Garcia
Greene/Casspi
Landry/Thompson
Haywood/Hawes

But ya we would never really want to pay Haywood the kind of money he would want. Some dumb team will over pay.

Instead of Haywood maybe Dalembert?

It's still very possible that the Kings could take Favors or Cousins at the #2 spot, too.

Evans/Blake
Beno/Morrow/Garcia
Greene/Casspi/Garcia
Landry/Thompson
Cousins/Hawes

Not a bad team.

I see no place for Turner on this team. If we get two, we find a way to trade down to 3 or 4 and take Cousins.

Why would Turner be bad for this team? He'd be a great SF to put next to Tyreke.

And has it been two years yet? (Referring to your sig)

If we draft Turner we would probably trade away that pick instead of trading another piece to get another pick in the lottery. We would probably trade down to four and take Favors or Cousins.

If we did draft Turner we would have to trade away Noc/Casspi or Noc/Greene. Which I would rather not do. I'm hoping for the number one pick but like the options we have with the number 2. We'll end up with the 5th pick, but I still like talking about it.

I think Turner is more of a 1/2 than a 3 at the NBA level.

Agreed. I don't see why anyone here is thinking that he would be the ideal SF for us. He's not a great 3PT shooter, so with a lineup of...

Beno
Evans
Turner
Landry
Hawes/Thompson

Where is the 3PT shot going to come from? Beno and....? We need a Greene/Casspi type player starting at the SF. That, or sign a player like Morrow and have him start next to Evans.

Well...you'd eventually develop your lineup into

Evans
Greene/Casspi
Turner

Still need more outside shooting from the wing spots.

More importantly, I think though, is that Turner and Tyreke are both main options that are both wings. I just don't know if either could have the ball enough to be properly utilized.

Don't get me wrong. If we're at #2, we draft Turner. I just think there's a highly likely possibility we look to move him in the future.

If you guys get Turner, I think it'd be fantastic! With Evans running the point, and Turner as a 2 or a 3, you'll be huge and terrifying!
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Anyone can look good in a highlight video, that's why that clip is in the highlight video, not to say Turner isn't impressive, but let's dial back on the highlight videos as being a big deal.
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.
