if we could get him for about 9 mil, would you guys do it? say cousins is gone and we take johnson to play the 2, we still would need a center in free agency and i like david lee even though hes not a great defensive anchor, who on the kings 2001-2002 team actually was a defensive anchor? exactly. it could work

The only way I'm considering Lee if we bring in (or draft) a legitimate defensive player alongside with him. Unless Lee overnight became a defensive minded force, he isn't what we need right now.

David Lee is a good rotation player, but someone is going to overpay for what Lee can bring and it shouldn't be Sacramento that is the one that overpays for Lee.

Lee is trash in when you have better players on the team. Lee was the best player on that knick roster....

I'm interested in Lee if we strike out elsewhere. But people really need to stop referring to David Lee as a center. The dude is 6'9 in shoes and can't bang with anyone else in the league that is considered a center. the guy is more of a SF/PF than he is a center.

what if we draft that little bitch cole aldrich alongside him and draft lance stephenson in the second round. that guys so underrated because of attitude issues and a poor college season but cousins and favors had those problems also and people are still high on them. personally, cole aldrich would be the worst possible pick, hes not a star player, never will be, we need star players im not going into next season with a **** roster full of role players like we have now, lets face it, wes johnson falls to us cousins falls or we draft cole aldrich and have to take david lee. who else is coming to sacramento? no star type players, i think if the kings dont get there star in the draft there screwed either way so why not take a chance on david lee if he doesnt pan out, which if hes a rotation guy he will, we can send him to a contender next year

Hostile much? Seriously though we shouldn't have to overpay for someone like Lee (who incidentally I think is a fine player, just not a great fit for the Kings), when we can always bide our time and try for a trade.

Lee brings you nothing on a good team at POWER FORWARD that you cannot get for half the money elsewhere.

He's not worth it for the Kings and it would just take away good minutes from the younger guys that need them.

This is a simple NO! We would have to overpay lee to come to SacTown... screw that!! He lacks the one thing this team really needs... Defense! Why would we want to overpay a guy who lacks Defense?!

Is everyone here dumb or is it just me. The biggest problem this team needs fixing at is in the front court and if we don't get either Favors or Cousins, then what? Wesley Johnson? Greg Monroe? Cole Aldrich?... Ew.
Face it, without either of those two were gonna have to look at FA and the only reasonable one is David Lee. If not him then who else? I mean David is a quality big man, he was a damn All-Star last season, how would you not want an all star PF on this kings team. Oh yeah we have a baby in JT and a pre-madona in Hawes, how could I forget?

You're completely generalizing what the Kings need. The Kings do need big men but that isn't the base issue they need to address. They need to address the fact that they have next to nothing upfront that resembles tough defense or a physical presence. There's a reason this team got manhandled by the likes of Nenad Freaking Krstic every night. David Lee isn't going to fix that one bit. If anything he's more of a turnstile on D than the guys he'd be competing for minutes for at PF (Landry & Thompson).

Lee doesn't fix any of our real issues, he's just something to take your mind off what the real problem is--oh and he'll cost an ass load of money too.

If Cousins is off the board and you draft Johnson (please God no to Aldrich) then you use your cap space to acquire a big man that better suits what the Kings need. Are you going to acquire a superstar with that money? Nope, but guys like Okafor & Dalembert help this team a helluva lot more than Lee does.

Vlade, Webber and Pollard were essentially a combined anchor--all three had Drtgs under 100. In other words, you can get away to an extent with not having a great anchor if you play smart defense and have length inside. Lee provides neither of these things for us.

So yeah, a big fat "no" to Lee. He's not going to improve us all that much offensively, and our rebounding was basically fine last year.

Lee's defense is around Brad Miller's, or in other words, non-existent. I think I'll pass. Lee doesn't provide anything we need and don't already have. And you might want to check your history, because there was a time the Kings were one of the better defensive teams in the league.

Hell no. He'll cost way too much for what he'll actually contribute. Besides, his stats are waaaay way bloated since he was playing on that talentless (apologies to Danilo, who is the man) Knicks squad with the D'Antoni offense. If we can't get someone better this summer, I just stand pat, try to develop what we have, and save the money for next offseason and for when we have to pay our prospects that actually pan out.

Thompson is a double-double machine when he actually plays the minutes he's meant to play. Just teach him how to stay out of foul trouble and he'll be great for us. Landry's rebounding was definitely improving as he got more minutes, and he's easily the better offensive player. Again, remember Lee plays for D'Antoni before you pull out his season averages. Landry and Thompson are my starting 4 and 5 unless we can bring in a guy like Bosh or Stoudemire.

Not worth the money we would have to pay for him, it's as simple as that.
