What would we have to give up......

to get the #2, #3, or #4 pick? Without giving up the 5th pick.

If you look at OKC or Portland, both teams built through the draft.

OKC got Durant (#2) and Green (#5) in 2007 and then got Westbrook (#4) in 2008.

Portland got Aldridge (#2) and Roy (#6) in 2006 and Oden (#1) in 2007.

With this being a top 5 heavy draft, it would be nice to have to have two top 5 picks. Could you imagine an Evans, Favors, Johnson core or an Evans, Turner, Cousins core. What would we have to give up to make this happen and would we really want to do this?

The only thing that comes to mind that we could probably do would be either giving up Tyreke Evans or an unprotected pick next season, either of which would be likely to be a huge mistake.

and no trading Tyreke either. haha left that out on accident. Keep the 5 and Tyreke no matter what.

Without giving up Tyreke or #5, the only likely option left would be to give next year's pick, unprotected along with some other value, maybe Carl Landry,

which is something that I don't see the Kings doing, this idea probably isn't in the realm of something that makes sense for Sacramento to do

I actually would not mind giving up next years draft pick to pick up a Turner or Favors. Then take Johnson or Cousins at 5..

Evans/Beno
Turner/Garcia
Greene/Casspi
Landry/JT
Cousins/Hawes

That line up would be nice

Beno/Garcia
Evans/Greene
Johnson/Casspi
Favors/Landry
Hawes/JT

Good line up.

We would still have good cap space to get a player fill out the roster.. 5th big and/or another point
At some point we need to stop pointing to "next year" and make our move.

I think the only one that would actually be available is the #2 and Brand from Philly. We would have to do something like.... Landry and 2011 First unprotected for #2 and Brand. Would we do that?

Cap room is gone. But with a core of Evans, Turner, and Cousins we wouldn't have to really shop for a FA. Not like anything is coming here anyways.

Evans/Beno
Turner/Garcia
Green/Casspi
Thompson/Brand
Cousins/Hawes

I think that would be a nasty team, especially in 2-3 years.

Yeah honestly, I don't see us picking any big names up in the FA this offseason.
The only big name that we could make a run for is David lee... and I'd rather have Turner+Brand's Ugly Contract then David Lee. Although I hate brand's contract I would really love to get that #2 pic... A team with Evans,Turner,Cousins... I argree with you 100% that would be a sick team to watch!!

There is no remote chance we get the 6ers #2 pick for a conditional unprotected 1st in 2011. A #2+Brand can give them a better deal than we can imho. For instance, #2 Brand for Beasley #14 is a better deal...

Heat can potentially look like this

Haywood
Brand
Marrow
Wade
Turner

I have no problem offering the 2011 unprotected as I would hope that with two top 5 picks in a very nice top 4-5 draft added to what we have and the huge amount of capspace we have over the next several years we can now afford to start making more moves for now instead of constantly hoping to land at the top of the lotto.

I wouldn't touch Brand but I also am not that enamored of Turner with what we have and the potential to pick up Favors at #3 and Johson at #5. That would be ridiculously nasty and make the Portland/OKC stuff look mild by comparison.

^^^Agreed, what would the Nets want in return for that 3rd pick? And say we took Favors at 3, whats to say the Wolves dont take Johnson and we end up with Cousins and Favors. Maybe the same deal for the Nets.... Landry plus 2011 pick unprotected for #3 and Yi?

We end up with Evans, Udrih, Greene, Favors, Cousins or Evans, Johnson, Greene, Favors, Hawes?

There is no realistic way for us to get one of those picks with out giving up the 5th pick. All of the teams in the top of the draft need quality over quantity so there is no point in doing something like that.

Maybe Hawes and 2 future unprotected 1st rounders to the Nets for #3 pick, Jianlian & Humphries. Then Kings draft Johnson at #3. Then we trade #5, Jianlian and Noc to the Jazz for #9 and Millsap. Kings draft Monroe.

Rotation:
PG: Reke/Beno/FA or undrafted rookie
SG: Johnson/Garcia*
SF: Greene/Casspi
PF: Millsap/Landry**/Brockman
C: Thompson/Monroe

*-Garcia could start for Greene is Westphal wants another ball handler out there
**-Hopefully Landry will play like the 6th man candidate he was before getting traded here

I can see the Nets trade going down, but I doubt the Utah trade would. Unless Favors is there at #5 and Jazz want to snag him as insurance if Boozer leaves for Miami
