Johnny Flynn?

I don't know if anyone has seen the trade rumor about what the Timberwolves are offering to the Pacers for the 10th pick, but it got me wondering if they are that much wanting to pick up another top 10 pick why not trade with us. Trade us Johnny Flynn that 16th and 23rd pick for our 5 and we keep 33. That would leave us with a great back up to Tyreke the 16th pick for a project big maybe shooting guard and the 23rd and 33rd pick. I'm no gm and it might be wishful thinking but they seriously want to trade Flynn and damn near all their picks for just the 10th pick?? What do you guys think

Hell no, If the pacers wouldn't do this trade with their #10 pick... what makes you think we should do it with our #5 pick?! --Boi, you best be out of your mind!!
Although, I well say this.. Flynn is a great PG and I would love to have him on this team, but it's just not worth our 5th pick!!

You don't trade a #5 pick for a backup PG.

I read about this trade that was allegedly declined by the pacers. I am still sold on DC though, I think the prospect of having the next great big man in the nba is just to much to pass up. But I do see what you're getting at - it does seem like a lot of picks and you know what GP does with draft picks ...
But anyways I can even better your trade offer - If this rumor is true, then why would we give up our 5th for their 16th/23rd and flynn if the pacers even turned it down? It would be a smarter deal for us to trade down to the 16th pick by trading with the pacers and get their 10th + a player or another draft pick or even a future draft pick - Then trade our 10th for flynn/16th and 23rd pick...
That would leave us with .... The 16th + 23rd + jonny flynn + what ever the kicker was for the pacers (player/2nd round DP/future Draftpick) .. .get what im saying?
Also - I think we would get more value by trading with Detroit to get their 7th pick - because you know how much they want/need DC? So we would even be better off by trading with D pistons 7th + player/another pick ..... then trading the 7th to so and so.. . untill us trading down for the 16th makes sense....
I'm not saying I would do all of this, or that is is possible/easy - but what I am getting at is that we can get more value out of our 5th pick then what was proposed.

Exactly I never said I'd do it either I'm just saying that's a lot of picks for Minnesota to be offering and also Johnny Flynn who was a top draft pick last year just for number 10. I never said we would do it, but I'd consider it because of how successful Petrie is in the draft. I hope we get Cousins also, but you have to also explore all your options as well.

Yet Minnesota used essentially the #5(well #6 pick technically) on Jonny Flynn in last year's draft.

That is because there wasn't anything more valuable that wasn't a reach (I know Curry went on the next pick but he was not the safe pick at that point last year) at 6.
I think the lesson that we learned in last year's draft was that the quantity over quality thing just doesn't fly when it comes to first round picks. Our best move right now is to stay with the #5 unless it is a trade for a star/knock your socks off deal.

That was the first thought to come to my mind, even without finishing my first cup of coffee.

And they're paying the price for it, aren't they? Flynn was pretty much a disaster. Let us learn from Minny's screw up.

How was he a disaster lol. 13.5/4.4/2.4 isn't too shabby for a rookie PG learning an entirely new offensive and defensive system with TERRIBLE teammates

i wouldn't mind having a flynn and reke backcourt. Kings should try to get him or Bledsoe

Flynn for the 5th basically. Oh god, no thanks I'll stick to keeping the pick and end up with Cousins the way things are looking.

Flynn's not that bad, as some previously have said he had very repectable numbers for his rookie year. We must all be spoiled by Tyreke to consider Flynn a bust. Also I've seen a couple of interviews recently and he strikes me as a pretty good guy personally.
All that being said I'm not sure he matches up well with Tyreke, and I certainly wouldn't trade the 5th pick.

I'd expect a little more from the 5th pick or wherever the hell he was picked. I'm mean he was picked ahead of guys like Curry, Jennings, and Casspi.

Flynn is a good PG in a bad situation. PG's rarely look good in the triangle. Still he would be a poor fit with Tyreke and I wouldn't want to waste assets on him.

I wouldnt mind having Flynn but I would trade him for a tenth pick, no number five pick. Especially when you have Cousins in your grasp.

FYI, it was the Pacers offering the #10 for Flynn and Kahn turned it down, not the other way around.
You also shouldn't be calling rookie players "busts" Deron Williams had a crap rookie year, so I guess you guys wouldn't take him, right?
Jennings is overrated. Compare PER 36 numbers to Flynn. They are comparable, only Flynn had more TOVs, while Jennings shot much worse.
