OT: Don Geronimo Show

Post#1 » by wiltchamberlain » Tue Jun 22, 2010 5:43 am

Well I don't quite know if this is against the rules but I figured it might be nice to talk briefly about something other than DeMarcus Cousins, or trade rumors, and it does involve the local sports station so....did anyone catch the new Donnie G show?

I thought it was a little jumbled and chaotic, but it was just the first show so you got to figure it's bound to have some bugs to work out.

Wasn't a huge fan. The segments I heard seemed to have nothing to do with sports. I always like Koz, I guess I'm just not a big fan of Don Geronimo's style. I'd rather have Carmichael Dave during mid-day.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Well, he's not a sports guy. He is a football, and basketball fan but that's as far as it goes, he doesn't typically talk a lot of sports during the show.

As far as Kos and Dave go, I always feel bad for saying I'm not a fan of either of them because they both seem so nice, but Kos was getting a 0.8 share from 12:00 to 4:00 (which is fairly disastrous).

Here's the thing about Geronimo, I've listed to him for many years, and I know a lot of people who have as well. None of us were very big fans the first time we listened to him. He's really an acquired taste.

I also found it interesting that he said that if he didn't accept the job 1140 was going to air Glenn Beck from noon to four, which to me says the station is on the verge of floundering.

I'm not a fan. I heard some of the show today and some of the show yesterday, but its just not my kind of show. I'd rather listen to Koz mid-day and Carmichael Dave at night.

I don't like 1140 KHTK. If there is local sports news that's going on I'll listen in. During the Kings season I'll listen in, but it stops there. I'd rather listen to Colin Cowherd in the morning. I think Rome is funny, but he gets old. I dont' listen to the radio from 12p-3p. I listen to Dan Patrick a little bit.

Don Geronimo I've never listened to and it's because it's not a sports talk show. I like Tom Tolbert on 680. I like 680 since they cover more baseball, but I'm just done with Grant Napier. Mike Lamb is all right. Jason Ross is ok even, but I see him as the company guy and not a guy that's going to have his own opinion.

I do like the G man and listen to a lot of Kings games via radio. I really don't like Grant Napier. He's a pompus know it all that forms opinions on things he shouldn't talk about. The way he talks to listeners is like they are inconveniencing him.

KFBK 1530's always been my favorite radio station in Sacto. I thought Kings games were fantastic when they were broadcasted on that station. And it carries FOREVER. I got a game once when I was traveling eastbound on 80 and I was past Elko, NV! Those long radio wayelengths carry further on the higher end of the spectrum. 1530 FTW!

I agree with this almost completely, obviously except for the Geronimo part. I love the G-man, hate Napear. I don't listen to 1140 except to hear Geronimo, or if there's something big in the news, it's essentially the Pravda of Kings related local sports radio.
