Just trying to see how your guys opinion on lu deng? Obviously as a bulls fan i want more cap space and build from scratch.

Would the Kings consider a Deng for Garcia deal?

I really like his game, but I don't think his three point shooting is strong enough for the Kings to consider. Although he shot 38% during the season, which is surprising good, he choked when it counted and could barely manage 10% in the playoffs. It wasn't like he wasn't putting up lots of threes either.

Agreed, a lot of Bulls fans have wanted him to shoot more of them. He has the range, but you can tell he works on the 16-20 footer more. He's also much better shooting the 3 from the wings as opposed to the corners and top of the circle. But he brings really strong defense from a position where defense is key and rebounds above average for his position.

I personally feel like he would be a great fit for you guys and I don't mean that in a sense to sell the kings fanbase of this topic. But with the capspace that remains, you could still sign felton and then have some more flexibility when dalembert expires.

Felton / Udrih
Evans / (remaining 3 - 3.5 million in cap space / shooter)
Deng / Casspi / Green
Landry / Thompson
Dalembert / Cousins

Solid squad guys, not forcing rookies into heavy minutes, learning behind solid vets.

He would be a good fit if we didn't already have Casspi and Greene. Saying that both of those guys have range and aren't afraid to use it. Both have major upside and flashed it last year and come much cheaper than Deng. I feel you would have to take one of them away from us for us to sign off on Deng, but for Deng alone it's not worth it you would have to find a 3rd team to swing a nice SG our way that also has 3pt range shooting and isn't a defensive liability for us to consider it.

And once we get past that we come to our cap space. We have a lot of us but we don't want to use a lot of it on a player who might not make us much better. We have money, but we also have a lot of young players that we have to think about new contracts for in the coming years and probably don't want to be stuck with Deng in that case. After not protecting Gerald Wallace in the expansion draft I don't think you'll find many Kings fans willing to let promising SF's go on our part - we would rather just let them develop...

To end it, Kings say no to Deng.

Deng serves no useful purpose to the Kings.

His contract is bloated
His game is a poor fit with our star players
He's a bit overrated, particular by Bulls fans.

All in all, I don't think there is ANY possible combination of players/picks that would entice the Kings to take on Deng's contract. Sorry.

Nope, not gonna happen... We need shooters/guards.. Garcia is a SG/SF and can shoot the long ball.
We wouldn't want to give up our best shooter on the team for a guy who play's the SF and isn't a very good 3pt shooter.

Not with that contract, with his skill set and his pay a consistent 3 pt shot is a must have, and he doesn't have it.

I think our best option is going after a 3point stud in the FA - or exploring new talent - maybe a few who went un-drafted...

Given his contract, I'd rather see how Greene and Casspi develop. I think both have higher ceilings than Deng who seems to already have hit his. Also, as others have said: we need three point shooting. Can Casspi hit it consistently? I don't think we know yet. If Petrie did trade some cap relief for Deng or maybe guys like Garcia/Brockman at the most, though, I'd be happy with him on the team. He's a great 3rd option, and can contribute consistently while Greene and Casspi develop.

Deng's contract makes this an easy no.

I would not take Deng if only because his contract. He would fill a position of need (at least an upgrade over Casspi and Greene) but he makes a lot over alot of years.

Even though I want Garcia gone, I wouldn't want to do it for Deng because of that ugly contract. As well I would rather just wait and let Casspi and Greene develop instead of having to look at Deng's contract.
