Hey guys, I stumbled upon an article by Lucas Shapiro of bleacherreport.com. As the tittle reads... It's about the "Five Qualities Of A Successful NBA General", but as I was reading this article It kind of frustrated me.

Not once do they mention Geoff Petrie or any of his skill-sets. (And-- IMO -- Petrie is one of the best GM's in finding raw talent. Couldn't they of put that in the article??!!). They do however mention our Organization, "the Kings.." but only as, "getting lucky". I'm sorry but WTF?!

I guess you can say we got lucky in getting a Super-Star athlete in "REKE," But it's because of Pretrie's amazing abilities to find that "great talent". Heck, Petrie could have went with Rubio, who "luckily fell in our laps" according to the NBA/ESPN mock draft. As they listed Rubio a TOP TWO PROSPECT.. but yet Petrie went with Tyreke, he didn't get lucky Petrie just knows what he's doing!!

I guess what I'm trying to get at is, I don't think people/the media give Petrie enough credit for what he does, "Being an Elite GM."

2. Prepared To Be Lucky

I'll admit it, not everyone can get lucky. You cannot just win the lottery whenever you want. There is more to getting lucky than just having an opportunity. General managers need to be prepared when they get a lucky opportunity.



For example, in 2009, the Memphis Grizzlies had the second pick in the NBA Draft. Despite already having a franchise center, the Grizzlies chose to pick 7'3" Hasheem Thabeet because his combination of size and athleticism was too much to pass up. Tyreke Evans, a 6'6" point guard, also possessed great size and athleticism for his position, so why did Memphis choose Thabeet? They were not ready. When the Kings got lucky at the fourth pick and had Evans fall to them, they were prepared to jump on the opportunity.

Petrie would've picked Reke with the second pick also. It's not luck, Petrie is not a GM who makes mistakes with high draft picks, he knows on what and where to gamble.

Another thing said in this article that frustrates me is...

Evans fell to us,

Evans didn't fall to us (He just says he fell to us because of how REKE paned out)... many Mock Drafts had him falling past the Kings, although Petrie knew Evans had way, way more value then that. --(Example below, and another reason Chad Ford is an Idiot lmao!! )--

Analysis: The Kings are the big losers in the draft lottery, falling all the way to No. 4. They would've loved Griffin, Thabeet or Rubio. After that, it starts to get sketchy.

Hill would give them toughness and energy in the frontcourt, and they could use that. But don't be surprised if UCLA's Jrue Holiday sneaks in here. The Kings will bring him in on Wednesday. Point guard is their biggest need and the Kings are high on Holiday.
