Webber v. Kahn [summer league game 3]

Post#1 » by troydestroy » Thu Jul 15, 2010 3:02 am

If you get a chance to watch or listen to NBA TV's crew, which includes Chris Webber, interview David Kahn, GM or President of Minnesota Timberwolves, please do so. Webber pulls no punches with his questions—the type many of us would love to ask like: 1) seriously, Darko Miletic and Beasley for Jefferson? Kahn's answers are equally as entertaining all while making you wonder how this guy became a GM for an NBA team.

But wait, the best part is when a defensive Kahn compares Darko's slow approach to maturity to Webber's NBA career...

It's worth taking a listen. And if so, what did you think?

yeah i saw that, webber was grilling kahn about his moves. i thought webbers response to kahn comparing darko to himself was pretty funny. just listening to kahn speak its amazing how this guy became a GM. i forget what he said exactly but he called darko a gift from god? really?? and when kahn was signing off webber said "good luck" like he's going to need it haha

yeah loved the eff-you-style "good luck" by Webber.

And how about Kahn's response to T-Wolves' improvement last year: "well, our team didn't win any more games, but we improved our practice facility and player's lounge. we now serve breakfast and lunch." This dude's from another planet.

Kahn is a moron, sounds like a fan boy.

Webber put him in his place.

Seriously, as a Wolves fan that can see how stupid Kahn is, I may just switch loyalties to the Kings to avoid insanity. You have a young entertaining team with tons of up upside. Also purple and black are my favorite colors. :)

was it just me or was kahn's defense on trading Jefferson start with Jefferson was feed to the wolves on young teams and deserved better?

translation: we suck and he wanted to win so i let him go, but we serve breakfast and lunch now after practices so its ok we are about a winning culture now lol

darko has been sent from heaven to save us just ask vlade....

are u kidding me, how do i apply for the wolves GM position online???? hahaha

WOW just heard that interview, Seems to me like Webber was getting annoyed for a while, there was a lot of silence, and then Kahn compared darko to Vlade, and that was the end for Webber, Kahn tried to put Darko and Webber in there together and Webber wasn't havin it.

I just thought that Kahn was a bad GM, now I realize he's a freaking space cadet. He's basically taking a young team that was on the cusp of taking a major step forward and has set it back sooooo far.

I'm serious. Would you guys be offended if I joined the Kings fan base? I'm from Minny, but have lived the last 8 years in Chi Town...

Reposting, didn't see this thread
I wanted to comment on the Kahn, Webber interview. It was absolutely hilarious, I've been sitting here boozing a little bit watching the game on the computer and when I heard the good luck comment I started laughing like a mad man. It was one of those situations where you're laughing so hard there was a moment I was sure I'd vomit.

Yea I watched the game on nbatv... It was such a joke, I was glad to see webber put Kahn in his place. I will be honest though, he seems like a nice guy - but he is just in the WRONG business, he has absolutely no idea what he is talking about.

I feel so bad for the wolves fans, because its one thing to have a losing season but its another thing to have a front office who is sending you back into the stone age with their idiocy. T-wolves fans should just hope that their team can do alright with what they have, and hope that Kahn is sent packing in the next year or two.

No, I wouldn't be offended, it's not like your jumping on the ban wagon to a championship team just yet.. so that means you'll be a fan of an up and coming team that has struggled over the years...
plus I don't know how you can live, while being a fan of a franchise that has an Idoit as a GM (KAHN)?!

But I well say this, I hate BanWagon jumpers.. going to Championship teams.. as long as your a die hard kings fan, I'm ok with it.

you should read this article By Roger Pimentel, about finding a new favorite team (Sacramento Kings).

It's pretty Interesting, he gives a great reason why NBA fans should become a fan of this Franchise.

I’ve spent the last several years as a die-hard LeBron James fan, and by association a Cleveland Cavaliers fan, ever since I got a fist-bump from LBJ at a game. In the the wake of the LeBron Circus, however, I’m in the market for a new favorite team—and I’m chronicling my search. Maybe I’ll announce my decision on ESPN.

There’s a good chance the Sacramento Kings are going to be awesome this year.

There are still plenty of questions, and they’re still coming off a 25-win season (and that was after a 17-win season). But let’s be clear: Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins are going to be AHHHHHHHHH SUPER AWESOME WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Kahn is either entirely delusional or has some secret mind powers that nobody can explain creating a plan that nobody can explain.

Seriously though, I think Kahn is usually just trying to be funny but thusfar the only thing that's funny is how he's running that team. I don't get it. Johnson was and will be a great pick but the things he's doing to "build" his team are just plain head scratchers.

Still though, they do have some nice pieces to build with in Johnson, Love, and Ellington but this guy needs to understand how you actually "build" around that.

My God, that video convinced me that my dream of being an NBA GM isn't that far fetched.

Return to Sacramento Kings
