Kings 2010-2011 Starting Lineup

Post#1 » by troydestroy » Fri Jul 16, 2010 3:07 pm

There may already be a thread for this- I didn't look too hard to find one. In any case, if any of you Kings fans would like to chime in, what would your '10-11 roster look like? We have some interesting scenarios and a lot of time still for free-agency/trades, but right now this is what I like:

1-Evans, Sloan
2- Udrih, Garcia
3- Greene (for defense, mostly), Casspi, Garcia
4- Thompson, Landry, Whiteside
5- Cousins, Dalembert, Whiteside

I like Thompson starting at 4 mostly for his size. But Landry could take starting 4 spot back with better play. The center position is tough. Could Cousins play the 4, with all of the mobile power forwards around?? If so, it would be great to see Cousins and Dalembert on floor together. Perhaps Dalembert is mobile enough to D the 4 position. I dunno. Many good reasons to be excited as a Kings fan though!

looks good. Udrih more of the natural PG.

udrih
evans
greene
landry
dalembert/cousins.

i think Landry won the starting spot last year. dont see a reason for him to lose it now, have plenty of size in the lineup already. Also i think Dalembert starts the first handful of games, before its given to Cousins.

also still holding out hope we sign another combo guard that can play the two, so Garcia doesnt have to. maybe Christmas from summer league

Evans/Udrih/Sloan
Udrih/Garcia/FA
Greene/Casspi/Garcia
Cousins/Landry/Thompson/Brockman
Dally/Thompson/Cousins/Whiteside

I would like to see Dally and Cousins start together. 1 is a an absolute offensive machine and the other is a defensive specialist. Plus the rebounding would be absurd. The truth is though I dont see C or PF on this team being very different. Westphal has said it a bunch of times, it doesnt really matter if they play 4 or 5, it is about match ups. I see Cousins, Dally, JT, and Landry shuffling in and out in a number of different lineups together. They could all play together at different times. I see the 3 being pretty cut and dry with Greene and Casspi splitting time. The backcourt I see Tyreke and Beno playing the majority of the minutes with Garcia being the most used while Beno or Tyreke are resting. I dont think there will ever be a time when Beno and Tyreke are both on the bench. 1 of them will always be on the floor handling the ball. Sloan will get low minutes as will the other guard we end up signing.

Hopefully its

Udrih, Somebody
Evans, Garcia
Green, Casspi
Thompson, Landry
Cousins, Dally

I think Landry is better suited as our 6th man and by the way Cousins is playing, he might get the nod at center.

I think no matter how we divide up the starters and the bench guys we will have one of the best 2nd units in the NBA.

To Start the Season:

1 - Udrih
2 - Evans
3 - Casspi
4 - Landry
5 - Dalembert

Late into the season (assuming no major trades or injuries)

1 - Udrih
2 - Evans
3 - Casspi
4 - Thompson
5 - Cousins

Everyone thought that Udrih would start over Evans "just to start the year" and we all know how that went. I fully expect to see Cousins starting day 1.

Udrih
Evans
Greene
Landry
Cousins

(although I think Thompson is a better fit in the starting lineup)

Greene was younger as a Rookie (19), right now is what matters.. and right now their both the same age. So I'm going with Greene still, Casspi's game was much worse IMO. (but they both were pretty bad)
Casspi has been a little selfish at times.. just driving to the rack and "racking-up" TO's. :nonono:
I like green's hustle and leadership out their... plus crashing the lanes trying to get the Offensive Rebounds.

Really? I don't see it.

Greene showed the most leadership in the SL IMO.

Why do I love Donte Greene? He just huddled the starters together and gave them a pep talk. And he's not starting.

Someone tweet this (Thorpe) about Greene.

I think it will come down to how well this team looks in training camp. If it's just about being obvious the lineup will and should be:

PG: Tyreke/Garcia
SG: Beno/Garcia
SF: Casspi/Greene
PF: Landry/Thompson
C: Cousins/Daly

Landry and Cousins can both shoot well, and play in the pick and pop with Reke. Defense might be sketchy but talent for talent this is the way to go. I personally would prefer Daly and Cousins starting together, it could work, Whiteside and Cousins look good together so for Whiteside might be more athletic than Daly though.

I would like to see this as well but we can't expect both Landry and Thompson to split the leftover minutes. They're too good for that.

To have good frontline balance you realy have to pair it as:

Cousins/Thompson
Dalembert/Landry
Dalembert/Thompson
Thompson/Landry

With Brock moved into the enforcer/rebounder spot in situations such as foul trouble or matchups with smaller faster 4's.

The one pairing that is very defensively AND offensively unbalanced is Cousins/Landry UNLESS you are running BOTH Greene and Casspi with Evans at the same time to offset the lack of interior help "D". Remember that Donte showed somenice promise as a weakside shotblocker last year and is actually a really nice matchup with "stretch fours" where Landry and Thompson get hurt some away from the paint.

I still see that if there is a move going to be made that it will involve Landry who - because of the lack of rebounding/shot changing ability - is really the odd man out in the rotation. Especially as the season goes on and Cousind needs more offensive touches to establish himself as a #1 option in the post, that will hurt Carl's greatest value.

A move needs to be made for sure, but after seeing Cousins live now, it has to be him starting. This isn't some raw kid that isn't ready to contribute. He is flat out a better basketball player than Samuel Dalembert right now.

Well I think that Cousins should start, I don't know if that last line is entirely 100% correct. What type of numbers do you think that Daly would put up in SL? I think Sam will start the season at C, but Cousins will slowly take over, until he is ready for 30-35 mpg.

interesting. i've been wondering about the idea of moving Landry. And while he is the more proven player, I wouldn't mind seeing him traded for a solid 1 or 2. The chance of this happening may just depend on JT and his play in camp. If he shows more improvement, then maybe he's ready for starting 4 spot. That may be asking a lot though
