Rashad McCants?

Post#1 » by danu786 » Sun Jul 18, 2010 10:04 pm

I was wondering the other day, we need another guard, and Rashad McCants wants another chance in the league. He was here for one season (back when we had K-Mart so we didn't really need him) and still did pretty good. There's already been a rumor of Quincy Douby possibly returning to the Kings, so how about McCants?

*Sigh* You know, Bonzi Wells is a FA this summer, how long before his name comes up in this "retread the Kings from the past" theme?

McCants has never shown much at any stop so far in his career. There are too many good options out there as FAs or possible trades to keep bringing up the names of mediocre guys like Douby and McCants.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Agree with KIE, there's no need for us to go backwards, we need one rotation guard, and I'd like to think that the front office has gotten smarter, so that we get someone better than Douby or McCants

Seriously McCants is about as smart as a #2 pencil. His ability was never the question. He just wanted to do what he wanted to do.

In his short stint in Sacramento, McCants did pretty decently here. Showed he had talent and skill to belong here. But where is his head? That is the major question.

Who are these "good options" you speak of? I hope you're not counting on the Kings offering a multi year deal to anyone with an impending lockout on the horizon. Talent wise with the money the Maloofs are willing to commit I'd say McCants is a decent option. I'd even go as far as to say for the money, McCants is a better option than Garcia. But I would love to know who these better options are?

What about Ryan Thompson? I wouldn't say I've been knocked out of my seat by any of the guards on this years summer league roster, but he certainly doesn't look bad. He's got a brother already on the team, and by all accounts he has a good head on his shoulders, why not?

Exactly.
A lot of people blindly state that there are PLENTY of better options at a given position, as if to suggest that those type of players grow on trees and are ripe for the picking. Yet conveniently, despite this newfound plethora of "options", they fail to give so much as ONE example.

Not saying that McCants necessarily is the #1 option, but if you're gonna bring it up, who exactly IS a better option that is available right now and for not a lot of money?

I'm always bothered by the argument that we wouldn't go after a player because we have had him before. That just doesn't make much sense to me.

However, we wouldn't go after McCants because he had the shot selection of a high JR Smith.
