Chris Paul - Our Pipe Dream

I know Sacramento's not on that list, but the Hornets owe it to their fan base to get the best deal possible for CP3. I would think Sacramento has to be up in the top 5 of realistic trade offers that would satisfy their fan base.
Knicks - Randolph and Gallinaro
Lakers - Bynum
Kings - Landry, JT, Whiteside, Casspi, Greene
A core of CP3 - DMC - Tyreke would be sick.

I'm not seeing it. Reke and Paul...If we could play offense with two balls then yeah.

I guess the obvious problem would be that they're both ball-dominant players. The saying goes, you cant teach talent - and well they both have plenty of that... They're also unselfish and want to win - I could see this combo working out well...
But at this point I am not sure if it is even worth getting our hopes up over lol..

That could be the greatest idea ever. I'm going to get some friends together and try that this on the weekend.
But yea, Reke and Paul...I don't think that'll work well at all, and Paul's injuries are starting to worry me just a tad.

Our team would be terrible if we trade for Paul. Let's say we traded Casspi, Landry, Whiteside and our 2011 1st (top 3 protected) for Paul and Posey. Forget the $$ for a moment and look at our roster after the trade
Cousins/Sammy
JT/?????
Garcia/Posey
Evans/Greene
Paul/Beno
No thanks. Maybe if we keep the great white hope, aka Brockman

too much to give especially when he's probably gonna walk when his contract is up.. by that list he gave he isnt worried about the players he teams with good or bad, isnt worried about winning, he is worried about living the life style and we all know sacramento is far from that.. i mean if you count the sacramento idol tryouts to be poppin then yea bring him here lol

It's a ton of fun but you can only do it if you have teams of 5 otherwise it just turns into a layup drill.
I've also tried 5 on 5 with 4 hoops each team gets 2. It was in a gym with one set long ways and then the other set was at half court on each side of the main court, it was a lot of fun but playing defense is tough. We ended up posting one guy at each basket to prevent cherry picking.

I would love to have CP3 with REKE & COUSINS but to get CP3 wich i doubt we would be able to pull off it would take way to much of our younger players plus likely 2 x future 1st round picks to do it and all that to run the risk that he may not want to be in SAC as it seems though he has mentioned NY , LAKERS & ORLANDO as being destinations he wants to play It os my opinion his 1st choice would be NY & I would hate to give up so much for him to possibly walk.
Its better we dont try to get him unless he has a change of heart & included SAC in his wish list .
The only other scenerio we possibly could make ourselves involved is if we were a 3rd team involved in a deal wich led him to 1 of 3 the destinations of hos choice .

No thanks.
Paul is a terrible fit with tyreke. I don't want to take the ball out of Evans hands, and you can't expect Paul to play off ball because his strongest asset is ball handling. He's just a bad fit for us, last year before we got Evans Paul would have been perfect for us but we are a very different team now.

Chism? he looked good in VSL.
And I'd start Greene at SF. How does that team look terrible? CP3 could help turn JT into a legit NBA starter, borderline all star. DMC - Tyreke - CP3 is an outstanding core.

So who is a good fit? Reggie Miller isn't knocking on the NBA's door anytime soon. Kevin Martin a very poor mans Reggie Miller wasn't a good fit either. Who is a good fit?
I know we don't have a chance at getting CP3, but I feel some of you are abusing the "he don't fit" card.

I feel bad for NOH fans, CP3 is getting traded like Pogs on the trade board. 10 cent on the dollar, flea market-style.
I hope the new NBA CBA helps smaller market teams keep their stars. I feel we might be in that situation with Tyreke or DMC when they are in their prime.

Kings could be part of a Paul trade but Paul wouldn't be going to Sac. We're one of the last teams left with major cap space and the Hornets will likely want to dump some salary. Thus the Kings could be brought in to eat some salary and take back some minor pieces.

IMO, I think everyone is going about this the wrong way. If we want Paul then we have to give up Tyreke.
We could do somekind of combination of Tyreke & Donte for CP3 and Posey. Would NO do this? I'm not a GM, but if your star demands a trade and you can get the reigning ROY who put up 20/5/5, you have to consider it. This would give us a lineup of..
CP3/Beno
Cisco/???
Posey/Casspi
Landry/JT
Cousins/Dalembert
So, I think the real question is would you rather have Chris Paul, who is a incredible player or Tyreke who is on is way to being a incredible player? Its a tough call, we all love Reke, but getting a talent of CP3's caliber is very very tempting.
A few factors on this kind of trade:
1) However, the problem with doing this trade is that Paul could walk in 2 years. Is it worth the risk? Honestly, I'm not so sure that it is. Your sacrificing your future for 2 good years.
2) Another factor is that at 19 Cousins is not ready to compete right now. A combination of Paul and Cousins in a few years could be unbeliveable, but would we ever see that team if Paul left? However, Landry, Cisco, Beno, JT, Dalembert & Posey are much more experienced, and I'd be very curious to see how they would all play with Paul elevating their respective games.
3) I'm not really sure we have the shooters to really take advantage of Paul's strengths. This might be a more minor factor, but we'd need a sharpshooter to really take advantage of CP3. That could be fixed in a trade tho.
Those are my thoughts. I guess I'd probably lean towards no. As tempting as acquiring Paul is, I'm not sure the timing makes sense, unless we'd want to jump to being a more veteran team like Boston did a few years ago. I'd be more in favor of letting our young team get better and grow into a contender for a long time, rather than go for a for a few year run.

I wouldn't trade Tyreke for CP3 straight up, let alone adding Donte. It's a fair swap talent-wise; however, adding injury and signability factors make it an easy HELL NO for me.

This is Chris Paul we are talking about! How can you say no to the best point guard in the NBA. Hes the best at what he does so of course hes going to make everybody better. Any package that would not include Evans and Cousins and not waste too much cap space is absolutely fine with me.

Sorry, it wouldn't happen for a variety of reasons. I could write pages on it, but what it comes down to is that Chris Paul simply is not going to want to choose Sacramento over some of the other possible destinations. This team has a ton of young talent and potential moving forward, but he will want to go someplace with at least one established (meaning playoff experience) star quality player where he knows he will be competing for a playoff spot right away. That place possibly being a larger market is just a added bonus.
The possible turning point for a smaller market team like ours still awaits us a few years into the future when this team can (hopefully) return to the playoffs and prove themselves on a national level. Once guys like Evans and Cousins are able to prove themselves in the playoffs as premiere NBA players, that will be the time we start to become more attractive to other star quality players that weren't drafted by our franchise. Until then, we are aren't really even going to be on the radar for a guy like CP3.
I know some will bring up that New Orleans doesn't HAVE to take that into account CP3's wishes when they make a trade. That is true, but any team that want to acquire him will want some level of assurance to keep him, or it is possible they used all those assets just to see him walk. Petrie did it once anyway with the Webber trade, but I think any trade for CP3 is likely to involve a lot more assets than the Webber trade. I don't see Petrie or the Maloofs taking that level of risk unless CP3 explicitly gives his approval.

I think it's time to get off the crack. (lol) We don't have the value or the salary (I don't think) to make a trade for Chris Paul without completely decimating our already rebuilding roster. Would they even take anybody on our roster NOT named Tyreke or DMC?
