Trade w/ Portland
it was officially announced today that the blazers have made rudy fernandez available in trade. from what i understand, fernandez just has this year left on his contract and is due $1.25 million this season. taking that into consideration, would we be interested in trading recently acquired darnell jackson and antoine wright for fernandez's services? fernandez is 6'6 and is a really good shooter that couldn't see PT last season due to an overflow of guards in the blazer roster. i think for one year lets see what he's got...it couldn't hurt, it's not like we are gonna use darnell jackson anyways, and antoine wright isn't really a good shooter, he can hit the shot, but not consistently; i think fernandez could do a better job and would be a better fit there than wright would.
EDIT--he will earn $1,165,320 for this season sorry

I doubt Portland wants that crap. I would offer two 2nd's, ours and the Bucks. Ours could be anywhere from 36 - 44 and the Bucks would be mid to late second. I think Fernandez would do well on the Kings.

When I seen that wiretap I was thinking "what would it take to get rudy" .... I don't think they'd take the 2 scrubs you purposed, but who knows - I think 2 2nd rounds is more of a realistic trade to me. I think Rudy would fit in well - i'd like to get him for the right price.

Re: Trade w/ Portland
i posted on the blazers board to see and they pretty much want landry, though some are willing to throw in bayless and fernandez for landry. but again, it all depends on the FO, and portland just changed their GM. it doesn't really matter what we think, the FO will do what they think is best, regardless of whether we believe a deal is worth it or not...they are the ones that want to get rid of rudy, and the salaries match. maybe a trade won't get worked out until the deadline, but if hassan and cousins are ready to contribute (mostly hassan cause im sure cousins will be ready to contribute once the season starts), JT delivers and landry becomes expendable, I'm sure a trade could be done in a heartbeat, because landry is the type of player that would put a healthy portland team over the hump to be a real contender in the west.
how awsome would this be?
Tyreke Evans/Beno Udrih
Rudy Fernandez/Francisco Garcia
Omri Casspi/Donte Greene
Jason Thompson/Hassan Whiteside
Demarcus Cousins/Samuel Dalembert
or
Tyreke Evans/Beno Udrih

Omri Casspi/Donte Greene
Demarcus Cousins/Jason Thompson
Samuel Dalembert/Hassan Whiteside
SIDENOTE: IDK if you guys know this or not, but rudy also can really get to the basket and throw it down. i say a team like this (assuming our cornerstone players make it happen for us) is a contender in 2 years after this season is over. by reke's 4th year i see us as a perennial western conference power house and reviving our rivalry against the lakers. i'm very excited about the direction of this team. come on seriously, if there is a team that deserves to eliminate the lakers from the playoffs is sacramento, and i have no doubt in my mind that karma is working in our favor. how awsome would it be to dethrone a lakers team consisted of kobe, pau, artest, odom, bynum, barnes, and fisher?
INSTANT REVENGE on kobe and fisher for those 2 years we should have beat them, and instant satisfaction of just beating a team that is almost impossible to beat.

Petrie could trade Rudy for either DJackson or AWright who both are expirings plus a 2nd. I'm sure the Blazers could use capsace. Most likely DJackson because Rudy would be excellent Garcia insurance, and AWright is a defending G not offensive. We do have more big man depth than little guy depth.

I'd love to get Rudy. It was a sham that he didn't get to play more last season. Dude's athleticism is unreal.

The reason he didn't play last year is because he sucked when he did play, and complained like a baby when he didn't. And sure, he is athletic. He was in the dunk contest his rookie year and put down one pretty cool dunk, but that is really a moot point. He will have one really exciting play every four to five games, and spend the entire rest of the looking to hit threes. His rookie season he experienced a ton of success, in part because he was great and running around and tiring out his defenders before stepping back for a three. Eventually people realized that, no matter how much he runs around, he usually ends up back around the perimeter, so they could get a little lazier when he slashed towards the hoop since they knew he was just using the move as a decoy to get back out for a three. In a Bayless/Rudy deal for Landry, I think you guys should be more excited about the potential of Bayless than Rudy. Especially since I would say there is a 20% chance this guy plays a full NBA career as opposed to bolting to Spain because he isn't getting his.
If you really want a great international player who isn't nearly as effective in the NBA, you might as well make a deal with us for Patty Mills, since at least he isn't a crybaby about the fact that he isn't being given Brandon Roy's minutes despite shooting in the mid 30% area behind the arc.

Portland may want Landry but that doesn't make it a good idea for Sacramento to send Landry.
If I'm Petrie, I'm offering any combination of of Jackson, Wright, 2nd round picks that he wants unless Sacramento's getting something significant in addition to Rudy.

And if I'm Portland, I'm declining. Money really is no issue to us, especially with someone who's owed peanuts compared to the rest of the NBA.
I don't blame the Kings for not giving Landry though, they would be stupid to trade him for Bayless and Fernandez.
I don't think there's a trade that benefits both teams.

Blazer fan here,
You're right saying it doesn't matter what WE want, it's the FO. The only trade I see between Sac/Por would be Bayless/Fernandez/Pendergraph or Cunningham for Landry/Greene. Idk about anybody else but I'd even throw in a second rounder if needed.

I WOULD DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT. Landry will get next to no playing time now. U can have Greene or Garcia too to make it more fair.

Kings are much better off sticking with Garcia. He can do a lot of the same things but he actually plays defense. If it doesn't work out then start looking but right now it's time to give Cisco a shot. Kings must think very highly of him considering they never even let him hit the open market.

Hahahaha, what!? Last I checked the Kings traded for Landry and I don't even remember hearing of ANY debate about him starting over Jason Thompson or not. He stepped right in and they handed it right over. The only way he doesn't start is if Cousins plays PF next to Daly, which I'm excited to see myself.

Rudy Fernadez was thought of another Manu and Bayless according to nbadraft.net Gilbert Arenas, I would gamble on those prospects over Landry a player who has no place on the team, Garcia who never plays basketball, and Greenes certainly going to lose to Casspi for playing time.

NBADraft.net is one of the silliest prospects sites out there.
Landry totally has a place on this team... since he got here last year he was EASILY the second best player on the court. I'd start him over Dally in a heartbeat.
I'll deal Landry for Rudy and Batum.
If not, nah.

Because Jason Started a C, duh!
The more I analyze it the more I just want Jerryd Bayless out of the deal. I'd say pass, but because we're overpaying Francisco Garcia to do what Rudy Fernandez is doing.

WOW, I'd really love to have Rudy on our team!!
He can shoot, Dunk like crazy, he's pretty fast, but I'm not sure about his "D." I'm not sure how good it is. but other then that I think he's great!! I think he would fit in well with this team. Just like Beno did, I think Rudy, could eventually play better on the Kings then his former team (Blazers).

I say both sides sign a petition and send it to Portlad & Sacramento FO.
Bayless+Rudy+filler PF
For
Landry+Greene
We're looking for a reliable backup PF, and Greene for defense. Both Bayless and Fernandez are crazy athletic and would be a nice addition to your team. Fernandez would easily be starting OR would be your best 6th man. Like I said in previous posts, you can have your pick of Cunningham or Pendergraph and idk about the rest of my fellow Blazers but I'd even throw in a 2nd round pick if needed.
