have you guys bought it and played with the kings?
i have and in the association i created my team is doing real well....i'm used to playing @ the allstar level, but i've been playing at pro since the game is significantly harder, and alot of the passes are picked off easier. however, i did some trades to the team i traded away landry and dalembert to boston for jermaine o'neal and traded beno to the lakers for sasha vujacic and let me tell you the kings have been playing great in my association!!!! i have a starting lineup of:
tyreke 36/garcia 12
garcia 10/vujacic 17/greene 21
casspi 31/greene 10/garcia 7
thompson 31/o'neal 8/cousins 5/whiteside 4
cousins 29/o'neal 12/whiteside 7
minutes may vary depending on who i need on the court depending on what team i'm playing at the time but overall the rotation looks sort of like that the way i sub my players in i'm never not competitive, i always find a way to take advantage of my matchups as i play with the defense alot (i move who's defending who depending on who's on the court for the opposition), and i think man to man this team can defend w/ anyone in the league (except for some reason dallas...).
my 9 man rotation is helping me lead the league in FG% and i'm 3rd in rebounds, 1st in blocks, 4th in assists....i'm scoring 103.4 pts per game alowing 98. the ratings for players in this game are not great (the highest is evans with 81 following o'neal with 75 and JT with 73. cousins is 70, casspi is 67, and donte is 66. i think garcia is 73 also.), but if you know how to use them you can really make some noise.
i just want to say donte is my savior in clutch situations. i'm convinced he can play the 2 guard spot without giving up anything on defense, because the way i have my team set up, i always play man to man and i usaually never have each guy guard their position on the opposite team, and its insane how many good looks donte gets from 3pt range with other 2 guards guarding him. cousins is a beast rebounder, and tyreke is amazing at everything. my team shoots so well, that i don't even have to shoot 3's with tyreke the most i shoot is mid-range jumpers and penetration. significant teams i've beat so far are the lakers (1-1), i also beat miami and oklahoma city. dallas is the only team so far that has my number. the rest of the games i've simmed or have been against bad teams. my record is 16-7 and i'm 4th in the west. with my schedule becoming increasingly harder each month, i don't expect to keep up my record, but the fact that the team has the potential to be this good is scary...that being said, if this team plays like this in real life, do we really need tyreke to have a great 3PT shot? i think i'm fine with him being the PG that least 3's shoots, as i don't think this team is going to need him to shoot it from downtown all that much; we have enough shooters on this team so that tyreke only has to take 3's in clock-winding down situations (granted sasha is a better shooter than beno, but the rest of the guys on the squad that would take 3's are the same).
garcia is a godsend i don't think there is anyone else in the league that can both play and defend all three backcourt positions which gives me great versatility in my bench and also allows me to give everyone enough minutes for them not to complain about their role on the team, i think trading beno made that possible for me since i no longer have a logjam at the point guard position, and trading away landry gave me room to play whiteside whom regardless of his 55 rating, has been made by the 2k ppl a very intelligent player that doesn't need the ball to be effective. the dude averages 4 rebounds and half a block for me in 10-12 minutes a game; i don't need him to do much else, which is exactly the same reason why i traded for jermaine o'neal and stayed with JT. dudes don't need the ball to be effective, and don't care about not getting touches. they're still averaging 7-8 rebounds each, and o'neal is blocking 1.5 shot per game for me. my main offensive weapons are tyreke, cousins and my plethora of great swingmen. i think this is exactly the way the kings should start playing basketball with the team they are trying to develop. i always play from the inside out as i always try to take advantage of cousins great vision and passing ability out of doubleteams in the post. after i've scored a couple of points with demarcus and tyreke, the defense starts doubleteaming cousins and that's when i start unleashing the threepoint shot with casspi and garcia and then with greene and vujacic. almost always my lineup closing games is tyreke, greene, casspi, thompson, and cousins. it works very well for me.
P.S. i also enjoy that in order to play a full game (stats wise) you have to bring the minutes up to 12 minutes/quarter cause the game is just so realistic speedwise...i love this game i'm now convinced that EA made the right decision in not releasing elite 11 as i don't think it would have the caliber to match 2k this year...regardless of wether jordan was or was not on the cover/game. what do you guys think about it?
