Has any one watched this video on youtube before? It makes me wonder... how many NBA players know about this website.

My reaction when I first saw this video...

Unless most of these players want to feel like absolute garbage I wouldn't want to know about this place! hahahaha.

Other than Chris Bosh, there are a couple others at least. The two stories I know are that Charlie Bell actually has an account here and used to post on the Bucks board (basically asking if anybody had any questions about being an NBA player and stuff) and after a thread on the Wizards board a few years ago called "The Incredibly Sucky Juan Dixon thread", Juan Dixon's dad (IIRC) let him know about it and he went out and scored in the high 30's the next night. I also want to say Arenas has mentioned it before.

Others know about it, I'm sure. But it also depends on what they're looking for. Like, when it's your team's biggest fanbase, it's more likely that that is what players will find. Chris Bosh probably stumbled upon RealGM because the Raptors have by far the biggest fanbase here and it's clearly the biggest place to talk about them.

That's just a guess though.

Why would anyone really care if any NBA players are on this board ? Seriously they are people just like any of us !
The only difference is most NBA players can play ball better than us & make a career out of it !
Most of them are not any smarter than any of us .

If they read this board or not is no big deal they are just another person as far as I an concerned .

IIRC, one of the Atlanta Hawks owners has/had an active account and posted on the Hawks board. They provided special offers to Hawks board posters on occasion.

There have been quite a few players in the past who have at least read the various boards here from time to time. It shouldn't be too surprising since RealGM is one of (if not the) biggest message boards dedicated to the NBA. With the growth of other social network groups, like Facebook and Twitter, I would suspect that more player would turn to those sites for interactions with fans. But it wouldn't surprise me if there are still players who occasionally check these boards or at least know about the site.

The problem with this theory is, if any one of those people actually read what we write about them on a daily bases they would have killed themselves ages ago.

I know first hand that nba players like to read up on REAL GM - there are hundreds of players who browse the forums daily.... Some are just more secretive about it than others.....

It's a possibility. I am sure there are plenty of people who show them love as well so it's mutual.

Not a player, but I know Bill Simmons knows about this board. He tweeted complaining about a shoddy wiretap once. It wouldn't surprise me if he reads a lot of this board or is even a member because I know he used to post on Red Sox message boards + he's a huge NBA history nerd. I wouldn't even be surprised if his top 100 in "The Book of Basketball" was inspired by the Player Comparison board, both the top 100 itself and the endless loveably obsessed player rankings...
