Weak Draft Class - Trade Pick?

If next year's draft class is weak, how much more likely would that make you be interested in potentially trading the pick?

I disagree viamently with the idea that this draft class is weak.

I'm not sure. I haven't checked this draft class yet.

The last couple of drafts were deemed weak by experts but look at how that went. Most likely, the perceive "weak" class is overstated imo. I think it is going to be fine.

I'm not sure if the Kings are going to suck bad to get a high quality prospect. But probably another year of high lottery may be the best for the Kings + using their cap space this summer too.

Wow this list didn't even include Brandon Knight who at one time was projected to be the best freshman from that high school class. I think this draft will be fine with regards to talent. Remember these are the same "experts" that said the 2009 draft which produced Blake Griffin, Tyreke, Steph Curry, and Brandon Jennings was a "weak" class. Especially considering we will very likely end up with a top 10 (maybe even higher with some lottery luck) pick. There is always talent and potential to be found in the top 10

2007 was supposed to be one of the "strongest" draft classes ever
2009 was supposed to be one of the "weakest" draft classes ever

A rough top 10 of 2007
-------------------------------
Durant, Oden, Horford, Conley, Green, Noah, Gasol, Landry, Stuckey, Chandler
A rough top 10 of 2009
-------------------------------
Griffin, Evans, Curry, Jennings, Lawson, Harden, Collison, Flynn, Holiday, Johnson

Yeah...huggggeeeeee difference

I don't think there's such thing as a weak draft class. Sure there have been awful #1 picks, and maybe drafts where the top #x were all busts, but there's always a few gems. Petrie generally does well finding them. So I still see our first rounder as very valuable this year and will not move it unless it's in a deal for someone like an extended Melo.

Is there even going to be draft in the event of a lockout? I don't know how that works.

I think there will be a draft because there will be a belief that a new CBA will be worked out at some point. I remember in the 1998-1999 season lockout there was still a draft in June of 1998. That was the same summer we picked up Chris Webber and in that draft we picked up Jason Williams with the 7th pick and made the playoffs for the first time in a while.
Im not sure it may be different this time around but if the lockout of 1998-1999 is indicative of how it will work this time then I would expect there to be a draft held as normal.

The only way I'm sold on moving the pick is if Brandon Knight pulls out of the draft. If that guy is in the draft, we do what we have to in order to pick him up. He would be the perfect fit next to evans and Udrih.

I'm not sure it's the strongest draft class, not too many guys hyped like Wall, Cousins, Favors, etc. last year, but I'd say wait and at least watch some college ball before doing anything drastic.

At this point, it's too early to tell how this draft class will fare out. Let's wait until March Madness time and evaluate further from there. Plus, I'm never a big fan of trading a first round pick unless we get something back that will help us immediately.

If it truly is a "weak" draft class, the only way a pick will have any value is if it's unprotected.

If it's a bad draft class for us, it'll be a bad draft class for 29 other teams. The only reason anyone would want a pick would if they feel there is some hope of them lucking out and obtaining the #1 pick.

No mater where Brandon Knight is picked in the draft (1st-10th). He's still gonna be a stud. Kings need to pick him up for sure. Hopefully he'll be in this upcoming draft.

Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to worry about the draft any longer?

Hey, I have hope it actually might not be much longer. We have major talent, it's just young. We also have a ton of cap space moving forward, good days ahead, good days.

We have too many young players already dude, we don't have room for another one. Pretty soon we'll be the **** clippers where we just develop talent so they can leave for other teams. We better not fall in love with this draft and young talent ****, I don't care how much talent you have if you don't win. We need a Tayshaun Prince or a Shane Battier more than another young player.

If it's top tier talent you take and it and either try to swap that in a package for a major star, keep it if that players fits. Besides I was saying I think were closer to making the types of moves you speak of as opposed to just looking for a high pick.

And don't forget, I was the one that started the Prince talk before the season even began.

Troy Gillenwater. Combo F version of Paul Pierce. We have to draft this kid if he comes out.
