• Cleveland Cavaliers Trade: Daniel Gibson, Anthony Parker, 2013 Miami 1st Round Pick, Cash
• Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: Taj Gibson 2012 Charlotte 1st Round Pick
• Sacramento Kings Trade: Jason Thompson
• Sacramento Kings Receive: Daniel Gibson, and Cash
• Chicago Bulls Trade: Taj Gibson, 2012 Charlotte 1st Round Pick
• Chicago Bulls Receive: Jason Thompson, Anthony Parker, and 2013 Miami 1st Round Pick
Reasons:
• Cleveland Cavaliers: Although the loss of Daniel Gibson and Anthony Parker is difficult, the Cavaliers come out of the trade with a quality young big man that can play with his back to the basket.
• Sacramento Kings: The only 2 Kings players that should be considered untouchable are Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins. That said, the Kings need to put a team around them that complements their talents by spreading out the floor and creating space for them to post up or drive into the lane. They are aggressively pursuing a Point Guard that can run the pick & roll, is a good shooter, can defend fast point guards, and can occasionally take the ball handling pressure off of Reke. That said, Daniel Gibson is a perfect fit for the system and is young on a very reasonable contract. I can understand the urge for Kings fans to want to trade Landry instead, but he is another player that can spread the floor out a little at the 4 spot. He isn’t as athletic as Thompson but doesn’t clog the lane for Reke and Cousins either. They are going to have a high draft pick this year and if they aren’t satisfied with Landry, they can draft an elite PF like Perry Jones or Sullinger. I think the Kings would be best suited to getting the best Point Guard they can by trading one of their Power Forwards and then getting the best value available to them in the draft.
• Chicago Bulls: The Bulls get their Shooting Guard that can knock down the 3 and is a lockdown defender. He is also a good ballhandler and can be used to relieve some pressure off of Rose or share some ballhandling duties with the 2nd unit. It can be argued whether Taj Gibson is a better player than Thompson. Gibson is stronger, whereas Thompson is vastly more athletic. The Bulls currently have Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer who are both half-court big men. Jason Thompson allows them to have a serious threat in the transition offense and might be more suited to playing alongside Rose than Gibson.
