Kings Acquire Jermaine Taylor for 2nd rd. pick

Post#1 » by ucsbandy » Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:24 am

Haven't posted on here in awhile, but just read the Kings acquired Jermaine Taylor from Houston for a 2nd round pick according to the Houston board, as a deal to make room for Terrence Williams in the other trade they made today. I know he is a combo. guard, can score, but how can he help us?

What a useless **** move. This makes me more mad than anything. I swear to God there better be something else coming.

If this deal is true this will likely set in motion another deal for the Kings soon with us trading LANDRY or THOMPSON I really hope its LANDRY !

Furthermore that 3 way trade likely means its a day or 2 away that the nets will get their wish in aquiring MELO with all the #1 picks they have now !

No Jermaine Taylor can't help anyone. Move on, that pick will most likely be guarded in a bank vault, straight contract dump probably.

Jermaine Taylor is a talented player. But i dont understand this move for the Kings. Taylor can score buckets in benches but he can't play off ball. He's more of an isolation type scorer. He's a below average 3pt shooter and not very good at passing or dribbling.

Seems like a terrible fit next to Tyreke Evans.

Taylor can score. He's an explosive open court player that struggles in the half court. He will kill in a system like the Warriors.

I agree. Taylor could be decent in... say Cleveland, New York or Golden State. The Kings on the other hand seems like a bad fit.

Here's a little info about the guy: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1062539

I like Jermaine Taylor, don't really understand the move a whole lot, but makes me think Evans will be out a little longer than anyone expects??? :-?

I figure the Kings are going to be approached all season long by teams looking to clear space to make trades since we have cap space. I wouldn't be surprised to see some cash come the Kings way as well.

This move by the kings has to be a minor move for SAC that will lead to a much bigger deal for SAC & that deal my good guess woulkd be that the next deal for SAC would be in a day or 2 at the latest .

Taylor is a shooting guard so along with the possibility of us trading LANDRY or THOMPSON this could mean we are either dealing 1 of the 2 mentioned for a point guard likely or also be trading 1 of the following GARCIA , BENO or HEAD !

Sounds like the polar opposite of what we need.

Saw some highlights on Taylor and he looks like he is a slasher, with a pretty good mid-range game, definitely more of a 2 than a point guard, and when he gets his feet set has a decent three point shot. If nothing else he has potential, and for what is probably a protected second round pick the Rockets will never see, very little risk, with a little bit of upside.

I wouldn't count on this deal being any sort of indicator. The Kings are one of a few teams with cap space to make deals without sending players back in return. They'll be approached with this all season long from teams looking to clear space while getting nothing in return (I'd bet the Rox never see the pick, just like the McGuire trade with the Wiz). I'm still waiting to hear that some cash is on it's way too. If not, the Kings must really like Taylor.

Yep, pretty much. I just can't see the Maloofs not getting $$$ in this deal also. They've made more than a few trades the last couple of years for the $$$ as opposed to the player.

Still, with Evans' status in limbo moving forward could be a good opportunity for Taylor to grow, and the Kings to get a look at a young player.

I don't mind the move. If Reke will be out for a bit then we could use the extra SG depth.

JT is not a combo guard. He is a pure SG. He has zero PG ability. He's basically a slasher, finisher with a decent mid range game.

I like JT as a player. Sometimes he makes slashes to the basket as well as anyone. But he just doesn't get the opportunity with us. And he doesn't seem to show consistency. But he'll have more chances to play at Sac, hopefully.

Jermaine Taylor is essentially a Evans with 0 handles. Same type of player, hold the ball iso iso iso....

Return to Sacramento Kings
