I would assume Brooks would be in the deal. Yao is done for. I'll trade Dally but I would not want to see Cousins go.

I'm sure the Chinese will solve all of the Kings financial woes as soon as Yao Ming sits on our bench in a suit then retires.

I know Yao getting traded to the KINGS is likely going to happen him & likely Brooks !

If having Yao means a financial boon, why would the Rockets be getting rid of him in the first place? I think the idea that the Chinese worship Yao is an outdated belief, every year Yao's jersey has been falling in popularity to people like Kobe, Lebron, and Wade.

This trade doesn't make sense to me. I guess if Houston is trying to dump salary and don't expect Yao to return we have the cap space to help them. However, this is us doing them a favor so I really don't get why we would need to add some of our young assets to get a guy that will never play most likely. Hopefully Brooks and a first are involved to make it worth our while.

Any Yao trade isn't about Yao the player, but Yao's contract, which is expiring and insured. The Rockets are willing to provide salary relief to a counterparty who want to dump a bad contract or two in exchange for getting some talent/picks in the deal.

SAC and CHA are mentioned because these are teams generally known as wanting to dump salary.

I would do it if Brooks is involved. Whiteside better not be involved in the deal, hes gonna be really good. Dally is so terrible i cant even explain it. Get rid of Donte Green because he doesn't take the game serious like Casspi.

If Evans ends up losing the remaining of the season, trading D'Alembert and some other player would mean go for the lottery, getting a really good player and start the next season with Evans, that rookie, Yao or his cap space for getting a good free agent or, in despite, if we have a close, some millions to be saved by the Maloofs.

You never know, this could be about the player too. I could see the Kings doing a deal with the idea that hopefully Yao comes back. Probably not a big chance obviously. I think the Kings would look to dump some salary like Garcia or Udrih, I hope not on Garcia though, we need to keep him as a starter!

I'm pretty sure whatever deal it would be would not include any other major pieces like Brooks. If it does JT goes the other way I'd bet.

Why would the Kings trade Dalembert's expiring just for Yao's expiring? If the Kings were so interested in Yao his value in free agency will be little to none. Just sign him outright. Trading for Yao Ming is like having a bidding war against yourself.

I just find all of this hilarious! Even if he comes back the dude has played more than 70 games once since 2004-05. Why trade for a guy now when you're just going to have to bid for him in 7-8 months to retain him?What do we gain by trading for any player who can't play now, and has the right to leave at season's end?

It figures that this would be the ONLY circumstance in which we could ever get a superstar player under contract...

Because Yao's expiring will net the Kings close to 8 million in savings thanks to a good chunk of his contract being picked up by insurance. The other benefit is that there is a slight chance he tries to make a comeback, but in the end it's about saving more $$$ and nothing else.

I'm sure they do, but a major reason why the Rockets can't expect much of anything back in a deal involving only Yao is that the Kings are already saving a ton of money by having the lowest payroll in the league. Could be enough to cover the cost of firing Westphal however.

Why don't the Rockets keep Yao and his insurance policy then???? Duh! If the Rockets aren't going to be able to actually get any value for Ming then why would they want to trade him?

Nobody is trading for Yao the player unless they want to give away a player in a salary dump. Unless we're giving up Garcia/Beno/Dalembert (our only 'bad') contracts trading for him makes zero sense.
