Kings/Suns

Post#1 » by ICMTM » Sun Jan 2, 2011 10:03 pm

The high-scoring Phoenix Suns strayed from their usual up-tempo attack and focused on aggressive defense in their most recent victory.

Against the slumping Sacramento Kings, they may not have to change much to outscore their division rivals.

The Suns look to beat the Kings for the seventh straight time as the teams meet Sunday night in Sacramento.

Phoenix (14-17) is second in the NBA in scoring at 107.4 points per game, but it took a half-court approach in a 92-75 win Friday against Detroit. The Suns had allowed 100-plus points in 10 of its previous 11 games, and coach Alvin Gentry ran an extended defense-first practice prior to facing the Pistons.

“I told the guys ‘We are going to start judging our defense from this day forward,”’ Gentry said.

I predict terrible rotations, shot selection and coaching.

Oh yeah.

In that case, I predict that Vince Carter has a 30+ point night.

I've never seen so much energy....WASTED. Travesty seeing the Kings forced into "quick shots" with a big like Cousins and a guard like Tyreke. They need to run every play through Cousins. Truth is he's probably the best PG on the entire team. :-?

we seriously went to Dalembert twice in a row in the post? when will the team realize that always results in a turnover or an airball? stop doing that. please.

They did it 4 times in the span of about 6 possessions. What. The. ****.

EDIT: and this after going to Cousins MAYBE 3 times when he was in.

One thing I'm noticing so far is that while Evans is being far less aggressive he's really looking to pass the ball and set up his teammates. That's great IMO because as he becomes more of a PG (setting up his teammates) the Kings will have less need to play a Beno Udrih next to him. Instead they can play him at the one along with a real SG & SF--creating some significant mismatches.

So much complaining in the game so far, and they give a tech to Thompson for that little thing?
