Evans doubtful for Sunday

TORONTO -- Kings guard Tyreke Evans is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors because of a sprained left ankle.

Evans sprained his ankle in Thursday's win over Denver. Evans said he would test his ankle Sunday morning, but expects he will sit the game out.

Coach Paul Westphal said Jermaine Taylor would be the likely starter if Evans cannot play.

Say what? Taylor the starter? Really? :nonono:

It might be a blessing in disguise. REST yourself Tyreke!

I don't mind trying it. I was impressed by some of what Taylor did a few games back. For some reason Westphal seems pretty deadset on not playing Casspi and Garcia at the same time.

I'm alright with this change. Tyreke needs rest and Taylor needs a chance to shine. It should be interesting to see how he plays with major minutes on his built.

Also, this is a chance for Cousins to dominate. We'll see if DMC can put this team on his shoulders and lead them to a victory.

Why would we start Taylor/Garcia over a Garcia/Greene? Westfail hates Greene

Well if he's hurt, he's hurt. I'd rather start Cisco/Donte than Taylor/Cisco though.

But more so, I hope he's alright. I'd rather have him just play now that we're starting to get our rhythm as a team.

He cant play them together and then risk not having a shooter on the floor when they both go to the bench. Its a savy move by westphal actually. This team gets destroyed when they arent shooting well from the outside if you have both shooters on the bench it gives the defense a perfect excuse to simply pack the paint and force bad shooters to take outside shots.

I just don't get Westfail's reasoning. Why take someone that as just traded for a few weeks ago, and have him start? Why not take someone from the 9 or 10 man rotation? Hell, might as well start Head again.

I buy the theory that Westphal wants at least one of Garcia and Casspi on the floor at the same time. If we started Jeter with Udrih, we'd die on defense, so that's legit. But regarding Head and Greene, I guess Westphal's opinion of them is as low as mine given that he's starting a nobody who is new to the team over them. Or it could just be a tryout. Hey, Wright is going bananas for the warriors right now; maybe our no-name can lay the smack down too. To be serious, though, I'm just looking forward to see what Cousins does with the team all to himself.
