Where do you want to see the team go?

Post#1 » by gold_leader64 » Tue Jan 11, 2011 8:21 am

Apparently, some other fan forums don't have the balls to handle talking about this, and to allow threads where we can discuss this possibility. So, let's hear it: where would you like to see them go?

For me, San Jose is the obvious choice, because the team remains in Norcal, and in the closest location to it's established fanbase. They have enough business in the area, and population in the bay area, to handle such a move without impacting the warriors. Any other move wouldn't have the advantages of both business and an established fanbase in the area.

Other possibilities are Anaheim, Kansas City, St Louis, and Seattle. Seattle still doesn't have their area situation worked out, so I can't see the team moving there. Anaheim is too far south to really get a solid fanbase past the honeymoon period IMO, considering the competition of the lakers and to a lesser extent, the clippers. I think a team would have a lot of support in St Louis and KC, similarly to how the Thunder have been embraced in OKC.

So, where would you want to see the kings move if they did?

Would you remain a fan if they changed names?

How would you react to the different locations?

Honestly, I for some reason wouldn't be horrified with Las Vegas. Idk.

Wherever they went, save Anaheim, I'd definetly still be a fan. It would hurt - BIG TIME - losing such a HUGE part of my life.

But we're here for a few more years. None of the places are so beautiful and prestine and NBA ready that we'll move tomorrow. There is no OKC waiting. We've got them and we've still got a good chance to keep them.

I might be ok with San Jose, but I probably would hate them after I saw the name on the front of the Jersey...

Wow, it's really hard for me to picture my Kings in any other city but Sac. I split my time between Southern and NorCal, and am very proud to rep my team from Sac-town. I root for the Clips down here and like any spirited Kings fan, despise the Lakers. It would hurt me to see the Kings leave my beloved hometown, but I will support them no matter where they are. With that said, I agree, San Jose would be the next best option location-wise for Sacramentans with Anaheim a close second only because I live in LA. However, Las Vegas Kings does have a nice ring to it.

If they had to move, i would look at san jose, kansas city, and cincinnati. The last one is confuaing i know but i like the idea of reviving some history with the royals.

Definitely San Jose. I have relative there and it's in Norcal. I really wanted Sacramento to get a ring and for that city to have a parade, but I have no loyalty to that place since I don't even live there. I don't think I can support the Kings if they go to Socal or any other place in a different state.

I will give some of my thoughts. I am a hornet fan. I have always lived on the west coast, so watching the team in Charlotte move to NOLA really didn't have that much impact on me. Then, later they moved to the western conference, and nothing really impacted me, as long as they remained the hornets. If they changed cities, it was ok as long as they didn't change their identity. For me, that's similar to the kings. If the Royals/Kings franchise remains a Royals/Kings franchise, then I could see myself supporting it in another location.

Agreed either stay in SAC or they no longer matter to me I cheer for them based on the fact they represent my city . Move anywhere's outside of SAC I would care less for them .

If they leave, then I'll stop watching the NBA. The Sacramento Kings is the only thing that keeps me watching this BS league. I'll always love basketball, but the NBA can go screw themselves.

I don't even know, man. I'd probably become a huge Cal Basketball fan to fill the void...dunno if I could root for them outside of Sacramento. I'd be pissed to see them flourish OKC, though...I know that much.

Honestly, Vegas. That would just be awesome to have a team in Vegas, and to have it be the Kings who already have one of the most top notch production values in all of the NBA would just be too sweet.

I wouldn't want them to go to Vegas but it would be a little cool to go see them play and have a mini vacation in Sin City.
