How many of our losses should/could have been wins?

I'm not talking about just cause a team was hurt or supposedly less talented. I'm asking how many of our 32 losses could or should have been wins if not for our now patented mental breakdowns. What's frustrating this season is that we are rarely not in games. We aren't the cavs getting blown out on a nightly basis. We are teased night after night into thinking a victory could happen then BAM! Turnover or BAM! missed FT. or BAM! horrible shot selection on big possessions. How many games this season do you think we basically gift wrapped for the other team?
Do you think with a couple more veteran leaders quite a few would have turned around?
Thi is one of the most frustrating seasons I've had as a fan and I'm just trying to pinpoint the problem.

I remember counting twelve games (?) that the Kings lost by six points or less this season. At least half of those were lost in the worst ways possible i.e. inexperience, youth mistakes.

As many predicted pre-season. We are OKC the year before last. That ended up a 24 win season for them and was followed by a 50 win season and scaring the crap out of the Lakers in the first round.
Not only is this team incredibly young, the role palyers that we currently have are not the ones that we will need once we come into the playoff/contention phase AND our franchise future all-star center is still a rookie and getting BS NBA rookie non-calls and calls against him.
Be patient people, it will change drastically next season - mark my words.

We've lost 7 games this month by less than 6 and/or in overtime... In January.

I agree we have lost a ton of completely winnable games. As much as it hurts to see as a fan, it's actually incredibly important for the team to have these struggles. These guys are learning how to rely on each other in desperate moments, if they can rely on themselves and each other to step up in the clutch win or lose this team will be in great shape, but if they continue to shrink from the moment and refuse to take the shots this team could wither. It is the coaches responsibility to encourage the guys to be ballsy and take those last 2nd shots. I would rather see cousins in the post with the ball in his hands with 5 seconds left attempt a shot rather than make a clever pass to the perimeter, he needs to shoulder that responsiblity. Tyreke has no problem being the one to take a last 2nd shot but we need to have some more guys who are willing to take the risk of losing the game. IF these guys learn this and get the guts to take risks with the game on the line, we could become the new OKC and be a 50 win team next year. It's all about learning what you can and should do this season when the outcomes don't matter as much

If this was any other team I would be okay with all the losses knowing this is a young team, but the fact that the Kings are trying to get a new arena makes it worse.

Next year could be epic. Just think, we add a new prospect via draft. We add (hopefully) a new pg or quality young players (I hope we acquire Brooks if possible).
Our young core develops more experience. And their individual talents increase over the summer. On top of that, The team plays well, thus bringing more fans to the Power Pavilion.
(most of them being bandwagon jumpers Who didn't feel like paying to watch the kings while they were less talented/experienced)
More fans means more money!! And that alone, should save our franchise from moving to another city. I'm not sure how much of this is a dream. And how much of this can actually be a reality. But I hope everything works out. And the Maloofs are able to get an arena with the help of Mayor Kevin Johnson, in Sacramento.

Just as we drafted bigs last year this years draft coming up you can expect us to draft smalls.
Point guards , Shooting guards as well as you can likely expect us to draft a European player so he wont have to play next season & we can own that players rights for the future .
Additionally if we aquire another 1st round pick via trade you can expect 1 or both of our 2nd round draft picks to be traded . Anyways who know for sure .
Carmelo's situation is holding up so many other NBA trades right now I just hope that gets done fast as thats been going on for way to long & I for one would like to see what the KINGS do as far as trades go this year . Man I hope Carmelo's situation doesn't last down to the last minute .

Also as far as wins vs losses goes yes we could have had more but by the same token we won at least between 2-5 games we should have loss . I realie its easy to say we should have won this one or that one but it goes both ways . Not only the ones we should have won .

Honestly, not very many. I would only consider that if it was a bad luck bounce or a terribly bad call that cost the Kings the game. I really haven't seen many of those. Breakdowns in strategy and execution will lead to more and more until something is changed, plain and simple.

I'm with the rest of you. Next year could be a turning point for the franchise that will allow us to look back at this year and last as the dark ages. A smart draft, 1-2 FA signings, internal improvement, health, and learning from the pains that are the 2010-2011 season can mean a turnaround comparable to OKC's 23 win to 50 win 1-year leap. I have faith.

At least 10 could have been wins. Maybe a few more. There was at least a dozen games where they had a lead at some point in the 4th quarter only to meltdown and lose in crunch time.

All of them...any game you play could be a win.

Zero
Kings fans have to realize that having a young team means dealing with the growing pains associated with it. They did not deserve to win any of the games they didn't win. Teams are not formed overnight, especially good young teams, they have to learn to win. The Kings have not learned yet.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm glad the Kings are losing right now. Not because of the chance at a higher draft pick per se, but more because its showing our young guys the hard work and patience it takes to be successful in the league. When you have guys with as much pride as Demarcus, Tyreke, and even Omri, the losing will only make them appreciate that its a five on five game and winning takes cohesiveness and trust.
In other words I'm looking forward to an incredibly brilliant future. The talent is there, and behind the veil of losing is the genesis of a great team.

Big difference between OKC and the Kings is OKC has one of the best players in the NBA (Top 5) in Kevin Durant and another quickly rising up the ranks in Russell Westbrook. The Kings have 0 star players. You can say all you want about Tyreke and Cousins but neither are probably even top 30 players. I said it before and I'll say it again, star players win basketball games down the stretch. We currently do not have a closer and that's a big reason why we always lose these tight games.

I don't know about that with this young fella. All up to him though. Also, there is an advantage being that Cousins has the potential to do great things as a legit big man which changes your entire team outlook. As good as OKC is, I don't see them winning behind two wing players like Durant and Westbrook alone.
