2 players?

Post#1 » by king125 » Mon Jan 31, 2011 12:21 am

Lets play a little game.....

If you were to add 2 players this summer (1 FA, and 1 in the draft) who would they be? Imagine you had an open check book and could outbid for any FA or RFA (except that douchebag Carmello) and imagine you had the first pick in the draft. What would you do?

Me.....

Al Horford and Kyrie Irving

Cousins
Horford
Casspi
Evans
Irving

Same as you, no doubt.

With Horford and Cousins we won't even need Irvings passing though lol, we can play them as point-centers

Horford and Irving for me as well. I'd cream my pants if we got Horford. A frontline of Horford/DMC would be beautiful to watch

Didn't Horford sign an extension?

How about Irving and David West? West would be a nice fit next to Cousins and Irving is just a great player.

Thing I eally worry about with West is the fact that he is a bit weak on the boards and as a physical defender.

I would love to see him as a Horace Grant type to fit with Reke and DMC, but I just can't quite see that.

Horford though, that would be AWESOME! Add Irving and you are set for a good decade plus!

Yeah, Horford is wrapped up already. Irving probably doesn't come out either so....

Could be a potential Robert Horry though. Ick, feel dirty just thinking it.

There is a lot of players I want the Kings inquire about this summer:

Perkins
Nene (ETO)
West
Oden
Gasol
Murphy
Battier
Prince
Chalmers
Mbah a Moute
Thornton
Green
Kirilenko

II think this is what the Kings' "FA list" looks like in terms of "feasibility". Although, some of these players are not going to be available or unattainable.

i think we need an upgrade at PF and PG. West, Green would be great cause they dont bog down the post and play outside a bit more giving DMC room to operate. Hopefully we can get our PG in the draft. Irving, Knight, Walker, Fredette

I like Nenê a lot as well. Petrie tried to get him for Cuttino Mobley way back when so that would not surprise me at all if he's a target.

Unless we're going to get proven star vets coming in I'm ok staying the course of building through the draft. One player (well one player available to us this summer) isn't going to change the franchise around.

The player I want the Kings to trade for or sign in the off season most that is realistic is Jeff Green .

The player I want us to draft is Kyle Irving and my 2nd choice is Kemba Walker

Marc Gasol or Zack Randolph are the only bigs that would be available I might want that is to say that we dont have Daly & either Landry or Thompson at years end .
I dont see Gasol as to realistic as odds are they will rid themselves of Mayo & use his money & or Z.Randolphs expiring money to resign Gasol as Gasol should be the Grizzlies priority in resigning .

Most other players I would want would have to be aquired via trade unless a miracle happens & MELO does not get traded & we sign him in the off season were he wants to play with Reke , Cousins etc. but that is not likely at all .

I would love to trade for KEVIN LOVE , CP3 , DERON WILLIAMS , Stephon Curry
and I would consider if the deal was right trading for Mayo , Iggy ,
other less notables I would trade for are Willie Warren , Jordan Crawford

God, Jeff Green is so overrated. Especially by a lot of Kings fans for some reason.

I really like Battier. We havent had a lock defender here in a long time and I also think he is a good locker room guy. Also he's a decent 3 point shooter so that would be nice.
It seems like everyone here is already sold on Iriving as our best option in the draft. I saw him play early in the season but it is concerning to me that we are going off of 8 games played at the college level. I really like Jared Sullinger especially if Landry signs elsewhere

I'd LOVE to get Battier. Really would. He fits so many of our needs and he'd really help our young guys grow up.

Put me in the Jeff Green is overrated corner. He's a fine player and I'd be happy to get him, but he's not worth the barn and then some. Shooting 42.6% this year, and takes wayyyyy to many threes (152 of his 512 shots, or 30% of his shots, are from downtown, and he only makes 28% of them). Decent defender, and he'd be a wayyyy better SF than PF, but I'm not overpaying for him. Rather get Granger (if he's available) or spend most of our summer cap on Horford.

Another guy who is a FA this year whom I'd love a look at is DeAndre Jordan. He could be that lockdown defender next to Cousins on a few years, and we'd have a dynamic huge dou in the paint. Just a pipe dream, I spose.

I agree with DeAndre Jordan. I think he's someone that we can realistically get and not have to overpay by much at all.

He's tall, athletic, tough defender, and can finish around the rim. Would compliment Cousins' game really well, and is basically a younger, smarter, more athletic version of Dalembert.

Wish JT could finish like him and not take that damn extra dribble to gather himself every time. Just catch the ball and go up strong.

As for the draft, Irving would be the top choice. After him, I would like the Kings to go after a really athletic 2 or 4, or one that can shoot the 3 really well.

I think we most definetly have to pay him - the Clippers are seeing how awesome he can be, and they aren't likely to underpay him if they want to keep their dynamic dou of him and Blake.

In all honesty, my hope for the offseason is one of Irving/Knight/Jones in the draft and signing of Horford/DeAndre, along with a resigning of Dally and some veteran leadership - Battier comes to mind. This is an absolute best case senario and it's nothing but a pipe dream... but...

Irving/Beno
Tyreke/Garcia/Beno
Omri/Greene/Garcia
Horford/JT/Dally
Cousins/Dally

or replace Horford with DeAndre.
