If the Kings leave, we all lose

Post#1 » by Wolo » Tue Feb 22, 2011 6:28 am

The agency I work for is trying to help mobilize more community support (individuals as well as companies). Check out our blog on the topic (http://glassagency.com/blog/uncategorized/game-over) and like our facebook page below to show your support!

We have something Las Vegas, Seattle & Anaheim all want. And it ain’t the Delta Breeze.

Let’s not give up our Kings without a fight. They’re extremely important to the city of Sacramento. Join us and show your support for keeping a professional sports team right here in our great city.

Let’s do something before it’s too late.

I question whether or not the Kings themselves can afford to stay in Sacramento regardless of the arena deal. Can someone answer that question?

Depends on the new CBA. If the league implements NFL-level (or near NFL-level) revenue sharing then it won't really matter where the Kings are.

They made money when they were winning. Thus, they just need to win. *legasp*

The Maloofs had the their Beer Distributorship and new casino in the Housing bubble era when everyone was spending like drunken sailors.

Now the economy started sucking in about 07.

The Maloofs gambled selling their Beer distributorship to pay the Kings and Vegas bills.

Vegas and Sacramento struggling financially plus the Kings rebuilding all have killed them.

The Kings sucked earlier and people showed up.

The Maloofs financial troubles are so deep.

I seriously doubt they can NOT go because they are so deep in debt.

I hate to see them leave. but it is coming.

They shot themselves in the foot so many times as owners.

With Adelman/Bibby/KMart leaving and 6 totally different coaches in 6 years since Adelman.

They have done this to themselves betting on a Vegas casino in a Depression deeper than the Great Depression. The Great Depression lasted over a decade and we had crime everywhere in the country.

Likely moving the Kings to Anaheim is just a postponement of Maloofs going out of business.

I wish they would stay.

I just don't see them staying without a huge loan like Anaheim.

So why not just sell the team outright, instead of going through all the relocation expenses?

If you sell everything and it doesn't cover your debt then what do you do? Guys like the Maloofs aren't going back to a 9 to 5. The Palms casino and the Kings have to work otherwise what else are they going to do for work?

Moving to Anaheim might be delaying the inevitable.

I have read the Maloofs are struggling and lost money with Madoff & with a large real estate deal in Vegas that went under. Selling the beer distributor was a sign how much trouble they are in. Since they are losing money in all their business they are desperate to bring in some money. I also believe the move will help them in the short run. If they sold the team today how much would they get? The team sucks, Arco sucks, and no one is going to the games.
