Million and a half under the minimum threshold...

They cannot finish the season at this salary level so I am waiting to see what is happening. I would asume that they plan to be available as a facilitator team to absorb contract money for others' trades for either draft picks or cash. I still believe the mantra about not taking on any money unless it is a no-brainer type thing (i.e. Nash for nothing) so that things are clear for next season and the future.

But this is a situation where they HAVE to take on SOME salary or face penalty from the league.

Considering the very large number of pretty big deals that have gone down thus far this year, I would not be surprised to see them somehow involve in some kind of multi-team deal.

I've been trying to tell people in the Trade Forum all year to stop proposing cost cutting deals to the Kings because we've had the lowest pay roll in the league all year. Maybe now that the facts are right in front of them (though I did link them to hoopshype.com pretty often), they'll stop trying to trade us 12th men and future 2nd rounders for our "overpaid" players.

Also, now that the Bulls moved James Johnson, the idiot trades with him coming our way will finally stop.

#Rockets may want Jonny Flynn. Kings below salary threshold:

This may have some truth being Sac/Hou sent a package to Utah for D will..

The Kings can help facilitate a trade for a team. They can absorb a contract. They also can sign someone for the veteran minimum and/or sign someone from the d-league.

Or they can pay the penalty for being under the threshold.

Just ran into former #wizards G Larry Hughes in MIA Airport. He's looking for a job: "Write something good about me, let's see what happens"

isnt the pentaly $1 million for every player on the roster? or something like that?

The money works and they could just offer a future pick. Flynn is on a rookie deal so they would just barely clear the threshold - thus sticking with the general plan and still making a sensible move for the team moving forward.

it makes no sense to just pay a million dollar penalty when you are one and a half under - the savings is so minimal and you end up paying for nothing.

On the other side of things, being at the max under the cap, they will see a BIG payment coming to them and that should help a bit in the financial arena as far as the Magoofs are concerned. Also I'm really glad at this point that they aren't dumping Sammy D as I see him as a key part of the frontcourt going forward as Whiteside and JT develop into that kind of defender/rebounder.

I'd bet they'd just sign a vet in a worst case scenario, isn't most of the contract paid for by the league anyway in that case?

I bet the salary cap situation forced the Kings to keep Dalembert.
