Kings @ Grizzlies 5PM Pacific

Post#1 » by KF10 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 9:14 pm

I thought Thornton looked really solid in his stint with the Kings yesterday. I hope he can continue that today against Memphis. Oh and also:

Word is DeMarcus Cousins will not start tonight against Memphis. #nbakings

Here is more from Jones:

# Turnovers weren't good by Cousins but he also had 11 pts and 9 rebs in 1st half last night. It wasn't all bad. 9 minutes ago via ÜberSocial

# Cousins wasn't told last night why he was benched and was visibly bothered by the situation. Can't imagine he's in a good mood now. 16 minutes ago via ÜberSocial

# Don't know what Cousins "did" to be benched tonight. Heard last night's issue was defense, which Westphal refused to address. 20 minutes ago via ÜberSocial

# Looks like carry over from last night's unexplained benching of Cousins. #nbakings

Whose in fault here?

The rookie, who was disciplined for getting into a fight with a teammate earlier this month, was benched 25 seconds into the third quarter after a silly turnover and sat out most of the second half.

Cousins declined to speak to reporters.

“I’d rather not address that right now,” coach Paul Westphal said. “I thought it was the right move at the time.”

westphal wants to prove that kings can win game without the help of cousins WTF

Getting very dangerous here in Sac, and not just with relocation issues. Westphal has to go for so many reasons it's just so completely clear that it's funny right now. C'mon Maloofs, you picked up some more cash at the deadline at the expense of making the team better short term, cut the dead weight.

Westphal could win a sprint, but a marathon? Nah. Interested to see what burning his starters into the ground to start this one will do for us in the 2nd half.

Offense is really only decent because of Beno so far. We'll need somebody else to do something in the second half.

More so though, the problem is defensively. If we can slow down Randolph or Gasol, I think we've got a good shot.

Did Casspi rest at all? I don't remember him being subbed out for Greene yet.

No, Casspi played all 24 minutes in the half for some reason.

I'd like to see Thornton become more of a focal point. He has really good instincts with and without the ball.

In the words of the great Grant Napier, same spot, same result.

On the bright side, if the Kings do move to Anaheim, I could see them getting a new coach. :sigh:

The reason for Sammy starting according to Westphal, he's just playing better than Cousins and "deserves" to start.

Paul Westphal, the only man who would've benched Jordan in favor of Jud Buechler because he had the flu.
