Casspi wants out?
I have no idea how valid this is but if casspi said this than it's blatantly obvious he wants out. He has not been getting any pt yet he seems to be enjoying himself and always has played the "whatever I can do to help my team" card when being interviewed. He could be a great trading piece but when teams know he wants out they are gonna low ball. What do you guys think?

Some stuff like this came out last year and it turned out to be all bs. Im hoping this is more of the same. I would really like to see casspi become our starter but apparently westphal isnt really interested in him. If casspi isnt in our long term plans we should look to trade him.

Before really thinking about this I'd like to wait for a news source that I'm familiar with to pick up the story. If it's true, though, I wouldn't be surprised. Casspi hasn't consistently gotten minutes since Garcia got back to 100%. He's even lost backup PT to Greene. In any event, him + our pick, assuming it's high, could net us an all-star.

If the KINGS end up moving Who cares ! For all I care they can suck forever !
If they dont move trade him for a really nice draft choice , young talent , or package him with Cisco or Beno for a much better player that meets the teams needs !

Re: Casspi wants out?
I think casspi could and should be our starting sf or at least first off the bench. I hope if we do look to trade him we don't get low balled now that he has gone public. But as jerry reynolds had expressed the possibility of trading our pick if we put casspi with it I agree with SacKingsPejaFan that could get us a pretty good player.

Hey, I can't blame him. Westfail's rotations are terrible, and if your name isn't Evans, you'll go from starting, to being the 6th man, to not playing at all for several games in a row, and then suddenly starting again. There needs to be a solid lineup at the beginning of next season, and not this "let's experiment for half a season and then finally pick a lineup as the season winds down" again.

Casspi needs to work on his ballhandling and defense this offseason and come back strong. He has no one to blame but himself for the position he's in, the opportunity was there.

I'm not surprised if this is true and I agree with you that it is on Casspi to get better. He has been inconsistent this year and all he is right now is an inconsistent shooter.

While I completely agree, I don't think he's blaiming anyone else - he's just putting it on the line talking from the heart about whats the situation.. you gotta remember he has a whole country checking him daily not knowing whats up with him, so he provided answers.
He just needs to mantra what you said : Ball handling - Defence - Ball handling - Defence.. all day long!
Problem is he won't have much time as he got the Euro champs with Israel and probebly **** of stuff to do aswell.. if I were him thats all i'd do, cause quite honestly if he continues this, his NBA career is at risk here, I mean right now he can';t seem to break into one of the worst teams in the league rotation, can't go much worst then that.

Re: Casspi wants out?
You can't blame a player for the poor choices of a coach whose time has very obviously passed by.
I am the first to say that PW WAS a very good coach in the past, but when you build a winning team one of the most important things you hae is consistency in the roster and rotation. He does not provide this and injury is not the real reason why. He is obviously desperately doing things to save his job and it is to the detriment of young players who need to learn and build confidence in themselves and their teammates.

This is legit, It's based on Casspi's own column at ONE.co.il, I read the original in Hebrew. Omri writes a column once a month the past two seasons at ONE.co.il telling his experiences in the NBA, he used to write more during the first season.

Well it's not good, but I don't think it's something that can't be resolved. I wish he would not have come out publicly but hey, guys are frustrated. I would hate to play for Westfail. All he does is frustrate players and cause tension.

Not that he's necessarily putting the blame on anyone else, but I don't think he's accepting any blame for himself. Casspi thinks he's better than he is, you can see it when he says things like he wants to go to a team that appreciates him. But who's fault is it that in his 2nd year Omri still can't make a play with the ball? I understand players will have strengths and weaknesses but at this level and at the SF position you have to be able to make plays if you expect big minutes.

I agree. He makes some athletic plays here and there and can be a threat from 3 but he has not proved himself as someone who needs to be on the floor. Our only guys that have proven that are tyreke, cousins, and thorton who are also in their 2nd or 1st year. I do feel he is better than donte though.

as much as i would like to blame pw for the rotation, its also donte and omri's fault for not grabbing the chance of being the starting sf of the team... work work and work even harder before complaining...

Re: Casspi wants out?
We just have to keep one of cisco donte or Casspi on the bench. Cisco brings something almost every game even if he's not scorin donte is the best defender and Omri I the best shooter, an right now it's working with him on the bench. You have to take minutes from someone else and we don't have a Luther head who is a waste of minutes right now. That said hopefully Omri can be our starter or 6th man next year.

Re: Casspi wants out?
I like Donte more than Casspi because he is versatile. He just needs to work on his offense. I wouldnt mind trading Casspi, esecially with the 3 guard lineup, there will be no time for him.

Re: Casspi wants out?
The reality is that he had his chance and got beat out for minutes fair and square.
March 2 v. Portland: 31 minutes, 5 points, 1 rebound, 0 assists, 1 steal, 0 blocks, 2 turnovers
March 12 v. New Orleans: 12 minutes, 1-6 FG
March 16 v. Chicago: 16 minutes, 1-5 FG
The list goes on and on and on. He's gotten 20-30+ minutes many times this season and has just not performed very well in them. Then when Garcia came back, Westphal became quicker to pull him. And then he started getting pulled quickly because he'd miss just about every shot he took in the 10-15 minutes he got. Then when Garcia is playing well, and Greene is playing well, I don't think you can blame a team or coach for not "appreciating" him. It's just a matter of playing the guys who help you win games regardless of whether they're a celebrity in their country.
