If the Kings get the 1st pick - KI vs. DW

I don't really see a 3rd prospect outshining either of these two players accomplishments/potential to move into the top 2. So if the Kings got the first pick, who would you draft and why?
I'd be tempted by Derrick Williams, a lot, but ultimately would have to go with Irving because 1) PG is much harder to fill in free agency or trade, 2) I think he'll be a better overall player, 3) Finding SHOOTING, elite level shooting that I think Irving possesses at the 1 spot is even more rare. 4) I think he's a better fit for our roster, 5) I think Kyrie fills every requisite of the personnel Petrie alluded to in his interview with JJ the other day and gives you ball-handling, defense and 3 point shooting. We can look at a 3/4 type player in FA and/or trade options.

Kyrie for sure. He just seems like a special talent to pair with Tyreke. But don't get me wrong, I'd be totally fine with Derrick Williams. Guy is a freak.

Right now I would take Derrick but wouldn't mind Irving.
I'm just not sold that Irving and Tyreke will be a good fit. Irving has a good jumpshot and form but i'm not sure hes a consistent NBA 3 point shooter. And he's younger with not much college experience because he missed most of the season. I would much rather get a VETERAN ballhandler/shooter to pair with Tyreke who will provide leadership, not another 19 year old "stud". I see a backcourt of Tyreke/Irving having a lot of turnovers.
Williams fits our weakest position right now which is the 3. He's better than Greene and Casspi hands down IMO. I think he has some of Greene's strengths and Omri's as well. He can rebound and defend bigger 3's like Greene and hopefully can contribute of offense like Omri when he's playing well.

kyrie for sure!!!
but since sac didn't move to anaheim, those nba peeps would probably screw us by having the 8th pick

Williams for sure. I like the Tyreke/MT/Beno backcourt and I can see them working well long term. We are really weak at the SF position and Williams would be a beast. He can shoot, rebound, play off the ball, and create his own shot. He is an all around good basketball player and a work horse. I could see him playing some PF in stretches as well when we wanna go small ball. With him, our lineup options are endless....
Dally/DMC/JT
DMC/JT/Williams
Williams/Omri or Donte/Evans
Thornton/Evans/Garcia
Evans/Beno
I would look to trade Omri and get a little more depth at PG. Someone to take Poohs minutes.

Kyrie without a doubt. I like Williams but just feel he will grow into a PF moreso than a SF. The NBA is a guard dominated game and Kyrie can control the game, distribute and is solid in all aspects; defensively, smart, solid size. Evans can play some minutes at SF and we could have a three guard lineup on the floor. I believe that Thornton will be best off the bench as instant offense and feel that will be his role.

I agree. Derrick Williams is my choice for 2 reasons. #1- We have a bigger need at SF than PG IMO. #2-Considering all else is equal with Irving, Williams is the superior athlete and the Kings need more athleticism. Someone to compete with LeBron, Durant, Griffin (guys we'll be seeing for many years to come if we become contenders again).

This is a no brainer Irving is not only the far better player but he is a game changer type player & besides we need a future point guard alot more than any other position .
Yes we have issues at the small forward position but in the NBA IMO it is far easier to get a future small forward than it is as a point guard .
Irving is the easy pick ............................

When have you seen Irving be a game changer? I have seen Williams do it a bunch of times.

Is Derrick Williams quick enough to be a SF fulltime? I don't think he can play that position fulltime. I think he will ultimately be a PF in the NBA. I see lots of comparisons to Beasley which I think is a solid comparison. He will be a very good tweener in the NBA but I think Irving can be one of the better point guards in the NBA. Lots of comparisons to Chris Paul but I think Deron Williams is the better comparison. I just feel he will be the better pro.

Irving easily for me. Very easily.
With Evans, Thornton and Cousins, we don't need another scorer. We simply don't. We don't even need a game changer, really. We HAVE game changers. What we need is a floor general that knows how to run a team.
Kyrie Irving, please.

Williams is Beasley without the mental issues. If Beasley was stronger in his head he would be an awesome player. Williams does not have those issues.

irving isnt the next chris paul or deron williams, i see irving as the young andre miller. we really dont think if the tyreke/irving backcourt will fit to each other. williams is a sure thing, sf is the kings weakest spot, williams shoots 60% from 3's, thats what we need outside shooting from 3's.
but lottery ping pong balls is FIX, i dont think david stern will give us the #1 pick.

Look at the teams left in the playoffs & current PG/SF position & my grade of the two.
Hawks- Jeff Teague & Marvin Williams C & C = C
Bulls- Derrick Rose & Luol Deng A+ & B = A-
Mavs- Jason Kidd & Shawn Marion B- & B- = B-
Lakers- Derek Fisher & Ron Artest D+ & C = C-
Celtics- Rajon Rondo & Paul Pierce B+ & B+ = B+
Heat- Mike Bibby & LeBron James C- & A+ = B
Grizzlies- Mike Conley & Sam Young B- + C- = C+
Thunder- Russell Westbrook & Kevin Durant A- & A+ = A
Other than possibly the Heat the higher graded will likely advance.
Kings- Tyreke Evans & Francisco Garcia C+ & C- = C
If we drafted Kyrie Irving #1 then he has to start at PG. That being said, IMO Marcus Thornton is a better SG than Tyreke Evans.
Then trade Evans for a top tier SF? Danny Granger?

Is Williams going to be a SF though? I like Williams, don't get me wrong, but I think Kyrie will be a superstar. I think Kyrie compares closer to Deron than Andre Miller. He shoots much better than Andre. I feel he will be a floor general and will command the game. We have scorers and a couple potential superstars. We need a guy who will control the game and that's what Irving will do.

Irving is a game changer yes ! He is a true floor general were as most small forwards outside of Lebron & a small handful of players are .
A great point guard & even a truly great center as a whole are far rarer to get than it is to fill the need of other positions on average .
No need for me to convince you or anyone you are entitled to your opinion ( though its wrong imo )
I am entitled to mine .

Irving is already a much, much better outside shooter than Miller will ever be. That's a huge difference maker.

Williams still strikes me as a better shooting Shawn Marion, but I have the same question, is he really a SF? I see him much like Marion, where his best years are at PF.

If we are going to resign thorton then I would take williams because we have already seen that thorton and evans can play well together. If not then Irving for sure. A good shooting pg next to tyreke is perfect. IMO Irving+evans > thorton+evans but tyreke thorton williams JT and DMC is a solid young core

I simply draft irving and move tyreke to small forward. He can handle the position.
Irving/beno
Thorton/garcia
Evans/casspi or greene
Cousins/thompsons
Dalembert/whiteside
Thats a very good lineup and not small in any meaningful way.
