Sammy Dalembert

Heat fan come in peace. Obviously, Sammy Dalembert is the best realistic option at center (the biggest area of need) this offseason. Personally I think he'll get more than the MLE, but he's still a somewhat viable option.

Just a few questions for those that watched him regularly. Do the Kings really intend to keep him when you guys have Cousins? (Though I heard he played well next to Cousins or something) How much do you think you guys would offer him?

Also, we all know about his defense, shotblocking, and rebounding. What's his offense capable of?

Thanks.

The Cousins - Dalembert frontcourt really started to work out after we traded Landry. I think the Kings want to keep him for 3+ years.... realistically that would work... having Cousins develop while being helped out by Dalembert defensively. Thompson off the bench is good too... so we're comfortable with the rotation now... but you never know what might happen.

his scoring was actually a surprise to many of us kings fans... when he gets the ball and tries to score we usually say no no no yes! im not even sure if he was 100% fit last year since he was injured most of training camp.... he was definitely a good fit next to cuz plus he was a great cheerleader when he's on the bench...

he will be a nice addition for the heat but i doubt sac would let sammy walk just like that...

The Maloofs are broke, so there is no way they can or will pay Sammy D. If he wants to play for a bad team going nowhere for cheap he will be here next season.

Well, I don't really know how trustworthy the Bros. Maloof are these days but they have been really adamant about Daly and Thornton being their first priority this offseason. So...if you listen to them, Daly would have to really want to play in Miami to leave.

Keeping Sammy D really makes no sense for this team. The roster needs a lot of improvement & yes Daly would help them win a few more games. This team right now is years away from even winning 40 plus games & lets not even talk about making the playoffs. They should be looking for someone younger because it is going to take some time. How much would you be willing to pay Daly per season and how long of a contact?

Sammy D really started to turn things around after being put in the starting lineup with Cousins. However, I am a bit concerned that it a lot of it was him playing for a new contract, but we'll see.

Did you copy and paste this post from 2007 or something? Sounds like you haven't watched this team in a while.

Years away from winning 40 games?

I haven't watched them much this last year figuring they would be gone, but have you looked at the roster? Their best player has a foot injury that never heals and Cousins is going to take some time mentally & physically. The Maloofs are broke. They are losing money on every business they own. They will keep the payroll as low as possible. No way they resign Daly to a big contract. I knew they were in big trouble when they sold their beer dist business and now they lost the Palms. Next season if they play The Kings will be dead last in the West.

I stop reading your post after this. What insight on the Kings can you actually offer readers other than something you pull from your ---?

In regards to Dally, i think Kings fans need to brace themselves for Sammy walking. With teams like Miami, NY, ect wanting Dally giving him a starting role he may walk. Most of the posts i read from Kings fans always assume he will be back. I think its a 60/40 chance he stays.

Uh, that's a rather excellent return for a FA Dalembert in reality.

If dally said he wanted to leave it would be fine but he is expected to come back.

If I hadn't seen one game last year it wouldn't change my thinking. The Maloofs are broke, this team is in rebuilding mode, and paying Daly 10 mil a year won't change anything. Why would Daly want to stay here and not see the playoffs for the next 4 years or longer. He's no kid and he still has some good years left, so why would he waste them here unless they way overpay him.

Dally liked being here, and liked the fact that he actually got touches in the offense. Along with that, we have his bird rights and capspace, so we'll likely be able to offer him more than anybody else (without necessarily having to overpay him, since most teams won't be able to offer him more than the MLE).

But if you had watched the team more, you might have a better idea of that.

I know Dally enjoyed his time in Sac last season... BUT there is a really good chance that an opportunity may rise for Dally to play with a contender. That may outweigh his good relationship with the Kings. I am optimistic about Dally resigning just like the rest of Kings fan on here, but im trying to prepare myself for him walking.
